Joint Entrance Examination Advanced [JEE - Advanced]
JEE Advanced is a national level entrance exam, jointly organized by seven zonal co-ordinating Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), namely IIT Madras, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Roorkee, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Guwahati, and IIT Kanpur. JEE Advanced 2023 is coordinated by IIT Kharagpur under the guidance of JAB (Joint Admission Board). Every year, IITs will examine JEE Advanced on a rotational basis to provide admission into the Bachelor's, Master's, Integrated, and Dual Degree programs under Engineering & Architecture streams. Candidates who qualify in JEE Main 2023 are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2023 to secure admission at IITs and other prestigious technical educational institutes across India.
IIT Kharagpur has announced the examination date for JEE Advanced 2023. It is scheduled to be conducted on third week of July in online mode. By considering student's requests, 75% of eligibility criteria have been relaxed this year also. Students need only their 12th/Intermediate level passing certificate to satisfy the JEE Advanced 2023 Eligibility Criteria. According to the JAB official notice, candidates who missed appearing for JEE Advanced 2020 due to covid-19 will get the other opportunity to appear for JEE Advanced 2023 without qualifying in JEE Main 2023.
JEE Advanced 2023 application process will begin from May 4th week 2023. Interested & eligible applicants must submit the application form within a given time frame according to the schedule. After the conclusion of the application process, JEE Advanced 2023 admit card will be issued 15 days prior to the exam date. Registered candidates will be able to access the admit card through the official portal. JEE - Advanced 2023 Eligibility criteria
To appear for JEE Advanced 2023, candidates must fulfill the eligibility terms specified by the concerned admission authority. According to the source, The minimum eligibility criteria of 75% marks in 12th Board exams and rank among the top 20 percentile has been waived off for this year. Foreign applicants are not required to appear for JEE Main, and they can directly apply for JEE advanced exam.
Age Limit: Applicants must have been born on or after the 1st October 1996, which is applicable for the general category.Whereas candidates belonging to the reserved category will be having five years of age relaxation.
Qualifying in Exam: Candidates shall have passed in 12th Examination (Science stream) from any recognized board are eligible to apply. Candidates who are appearing for the 12th examination in 2021 are also eligible to register for JEE Advanced.
Year of Passing 12th/ Intermediate: Candidates must have studied 12th in the science stream for the first time either in 2020 or 2021
Performance in JEE Main 2021: Candidates who have cleared JEE Main 2023 must be in the top 2,50,000 ranks in Paper 1 of JEE Main 2023. However, the total number of students varies in accordance with the tied-up rank or scores.
Number of Attempts: Candidates can attempt JEE Advanced exam a maximum of two times in a consecutive year.
Earlier Admissions at IITs: Students who are admitted earlier in IITs or accepted an IIT admission seat by reporting at the center, and students whose admission got canceled at IIT earlier, such candidates are not eligible to apply for JEE Advanced.
Candidates who secured admission for the first time in the preparatory program at any IITs for the first time in 2020 are eligible for JEE Advanced 2023. Students who have paid the seat acceptance fees in 2020 but have not confirmed the seat, such students are also eligible to apply.
JEE - Advanced 2023 Application Form & fees
JEE Advanced 2023 Application Forms will release after the JEE Main 2023 Result is out. To apply for JEE advanced, applicants must secure a rank within the top of 2,50,000. According to the tentative schedule, the JEE Advanced 2023 registration will begin on May 1st week and end on May 2nd week. Before proceeding to fill the application form, applicants must make sure of the concerned admission authority's eligibility criteria. To be noted, applicants must fill the form appropriately to avoid consequences, or it may lead to rejection by the administration.
Step 1: JEE Advanced 2023 Application Form filling / Registration
- Applicants must visit the respective web portal of JEE Advanced .
- Then, enter the JEE Main Roll Number and select the new password.
- It will be directed to the new page, which concludes academic & personal details. So, proceed to enter the relevant information correctly.
- Then, choose the medium of language and cities (6) for the exam center according to the preference order.
- Save the choices, proceed to the next step
Step 2: Uploading Documents
Applicants must upload the relevant documents such as Photograph, Signature, and Other educational documents in a prescribed format.
Step 3: Payment of JEE Advanced 2023 Application fees
After uploading the documents successfully, applicants are required to pay the JEE Advanced application fees. Payment of application fees can be made through online mode using any payment method (Debit / Credit / Net Banking).

Step 4: Taking print out of confirmation page
Upon successful payment, applicants must submit the application form and be required to save the confirmation page. Later, take the printout of it for future reference.
Important to note: After the application process concludes, the concerned authority does not provide any facility to modify JEE's advanced application form details through the correction window. Hence, it is advisable for the applicants to make sure the details are correct before submitting the form.
JEE - Advanced 2023 Syllabus & Exam Pattern
JEE Advanced examination will be held in online mode as a computer-based test. It comprises Paper 1 & Paper 2. The candidates must appear for both the papers compulsorily. The conducting examination authority has not fixed any specific exam pattern for JEE Advanced; it is subjected to change every year. JEE - Advanced 2023 Admit Card
After the JEE Advanced, 2023 application process concludes, IIT Kharagpur will release the JEE Advanced 2023 admit card by the 2nd week of June. Candidates who have submitted the application form successfully through online along with a prescribed application fee are eligible to access the admit using their login credentials, which generates during the application process. Admit Cards will be available only in online mode at the official website. To be noted, admit card hard copy will not be delivered through any post or other means of way.
- Admit card is a very important identity / document. Candidates are required to carry on exam day at the exam center without fail to avoid the consequences.
- Along with the admit card, test takers must carry any ID proofs for verification purposes (Voter ID/Aadhar Card/Pan Card).
- Admit card comprises the details like name of the candidate, exam venue, exam schedule, and other necessary guidelines.
- On an important note, before downloading the admit card, make sure the details are proper. In case of any discrepancy, candidates must contact the respective officials immediately
- Candidates should retain the JEE advanced admit card till the conclusion of the admission procedure
How to download JEE Advanced 2023 Admit Card?
Step 1: Firstly, registered applicants should visit the web portal of JEE advanced.
Step 2: Then, click on the link states "Download JEE Advanced 2023 Admit Card."
Step 3: Page will direct to the New login window, and applicants must enter the credentials registration (JEE Main Roll Number) ID and password and click on the "Login" option
Step 4: Upon successful login, JEE Advanced admit card will display on the screen

JEE - Advanced 2023 Results & Score Card
Examination Authority will announce the JEE Advanced 2023 Result tentatively by July 1st week 2023. Candidates can view their results by logging into their registered account through the official web portal (@ jeeadv.ac.in). The JEE advanced result displays in the form of a scorecard, which concludes the details of the candidate's total marks, rank obtained, and qualifying status.
- Aspirants who appear for both the papers (paper 1 & paper 2) will be considered to allot rank. The JEE advanced rank list is prepared based on the candidates' aggregate marks in JEE advanced. It is the total marks obtained in three subjects physics, chemistry, and mathematics.
- As per the JEE advanced cut-off criteria 2020, the minimum percentage to get qualify is 5% which will be included in CRL (Common Rank List). Earlier in 2019, the minimum percentage was 10%.
How to check the JEE Advanced 2021 Results
Step 1: At first, visit the official web portal of JEE Advanced (@jeeadv.ac.in)
Step 2: Then, log in to the registered account using the generated login credentials (Registration ID & Password)
Step 3: Upon successful login, JEE Advanced 2023 Result/Score Card will display on the screen.
Step 4: Then, download the scorecard and take the printout. Candidates are required to carry the result scorecard during the counseling session for verification purposes.

JEE - Advanced 2023 Counselling & Admission
JoSAA ( Joint Seat Allocation Authority) will conduct the counselling session to provide admission to the JEE Advanced qualified candidates at IITs and other prominent technical institutes. To participate in the JoSAA 2023 Counselling, eligible candidates must register online and choose the colleges/courses as per their preferences in an options entry form. Qualified candidates will be allotted admission seats in the IITs according to their choice of priorities, rank, and based on the availability of seats. The counseling session will begin tentatively in August 2023, after the announcement of JEE Advanced 2023 Results.
The JEE Advanced 2023 Counselling Procedure concludes specific steps
- Firstly, candidates required to register for the counseling by entering JEE Main 2023 Roll Number and Password (login credentials)
- Then, proceed to fill the choices of course/specialization and college according to the order of preference. Candidates will be permitted to edit, delete, add the choices until finalizing.
- After filling up the choices, candidates are advised to take the printout for further reference.
- After the conclusion of the choice filling round, a seat allotment session will take place. JoSAA will organize two mock allotments to designate the candidate's about their probable allotment order.
- Seat allotment will be made according to the candidate's choice of preferences, rank score, and seats availability.
- After the seat allocation, candidates are required to report to the designated college, in-person for the document verification process.
- The seat acceptance fees for the general category cost INR 35000, and candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD must pay around INR 15000
