AILET - All India Law Entrance Test

All India Law Entrance Test (AILET)  is a national level entrance exam which is been  organized by the National Law University (NLU), Delhi. This exam is organized for providing admissions in UG & PG law courses (B.A.LL.B.(Hons.), LL.M, Ph.D. Programmes, PG Diploma) offered by the Delhi national law university and its affiliated institutions.

AILET examination is been conducted once in a year in the month of May. The National Law University, Delhi was founded in the year 2008 by Act No. 1 of 2008 is premier Law University established in the capital city of India.

AILET Exam Date

The online application will be initiated from the first week of January 2018. The AILET 2018 tentative dates are mentioned below:

AILET Eligibility criteria

The eligibility criteria is been specified by the NLU, Delhi. Candidates should check the eligibility criteria before applying:

For B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) course:- Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with securing minimum 50% aggregate.
The candidates must be below 21 years as on 1 July, 2018  (23 years in case of SC/ST category) for B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) programme.

For LL.M. (One year)programme & PG Diploma programme:- Candidates should have completed LL.B. or an Equivalent Law Degree with securing 55% marks (for general candidates) and 50% marks (for SC, ST or PwD candidates).

For Ph.D programme:- Candidates must have a LL.M. Degree or equivalent with scoring minimum 55% marks for general candidates and 50% marks for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
Candidates appearing in qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.

AILET Application Form & fees

The application form will be available via online mode only.

AILET  Application Form will be available from the first week of January, 2018 and available till the first week of April, 2018.

Candidates can fill and submit their application form through the official website of NLU, Delhi through online mode.

Application Fee of AILET 2018:-

  • General category aspirants need to pay INR 3000/-
  • PHD category aspirants must pay Rs.2000/-
  • SC/ST category candidates INR 1000/-

The candidates belonging to below poverty line need not to pay any application fee. The application form is free of cost for them.
Candidates can pay the payment via Online net banking/Credit/Debit card or deposit cash of above prescribed fee at your nearby post office.
There is no need to send the printed application confirmation page to the university.

AILET Syllabus & Exam Pattern

B.A.LL.B.(Hons):

  • The question paper will contain total 150 multiple choice questions.
  • There will be four optional answers will be given for each question.
  • Exam pattern for B.A.LL.B.(Hons.), LL.M and Ph.D. Programmes will be in a different  format.

LL.M Course:

  • The question paper will carry maximum 150 marks. There will be 100 objective type questions and 1 essay question. The exam duration will be around 90 minutes.
  • The objective type section will contain 100 marks and essay section will contain 50 marks.

Ph.D. Programmes:

  • The entrance exam will comprise in two papers i.e. paper 1 (Research Methodology) and paper 2 (Research Proposal Specific Paper).
  • The paper 1 will comprise in 100 multiple choice questions and the time duration will be 1 hour 30 minutes.
  • The paper 2 candidates have to submit a research proposal not more than 15 pages on the topic which candidates want to pursue a Ph.D.

AILET syllabus will be based on General Knowledge (Current Affairs, History, Geography, General Science, Economics and Civics), Legal Aptitude, Reasoning and Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability).

For LL.M. programme, questions will come from these areas like Law of Contracts, Criminal Law, Law of Torts, Constitutional Law and Legal Theory.

AILET Admit Card

Admit Card will be released by the university in the third week of April, 2018. Candidates can download the admit card through the official website of the university.

Along with a clear copy of admit card, students need to bring one ID proof on the examination day. The Persons with Disabilities category candidates are required to bring a photocopy of disability Certificate issued by the competent authority at the examination hall.

AILET Results & Score Card

Result will be declared in the month of June, 2018. The question booklet and answer key will be uploaded on the official website. On the basis of marks scored in AILET exam, a merit list will be prepared separately for all the categories Candidates who want to apply for copy of OMR sheet may send a DD of Rs.1000/- drawn on the favour of Registrar National Law University Delhi.

AILET Counselling & Admission

The AILET counselling procedure consists of the following steps:

  • The qualifying candidates who have their names in AILET 2018 merit list as per the results of AILET 2018 have been called for spot counselling.
  • The candidates called for spot counselling need to be present at the counselling venue.
  • The candidates are required to verify the necessary documents including academic certificates, proof of residence and date of birth certificate etc.

Document for AILET 2018 Counselling:-

  • Original Counselling letter along with photocopy of counselling letter.
  • Original Admit card along with photocopy of admit card.
  • Bank draft has to be made as per the guidelines mentioned on AILET prospect.
  • All the original and at least 2 photocopy of certificates of 10th & 12th class.
  • Rank Card / Hall Ticket.
  • Score card (if applicable).
  • Original degree/provisional certificate if candidate is appearing.
  • Community certificate (SC/ST/OBC/Other) signed by the authorized authority.
  • Medical documents mentioned on AILET application form.
  • 4-6 Passport size photographs colour and black and white.
  • Other supportive documents mentioned on AILET application form
