Regular students in the BTech program can transition to IIT Kharagpur Dual Degree Program at the end of their third year. The institute offers BTech students a 'Semester Away Program and Credit Transfer.' Students spend 1 or 2 semesters in this program at a university in India or abroad. There are 47 specializations available in the IIT Kharagpur MTech course. The institute also provides a joint MTech/MCP-PhD degree in addition to the MTech course. The GATE exam is used to determine admission to all MTech degrees. Non-GATE students with a CGPA of 8.0, on the other hand, get admitted directly to the institute.
