TNEA 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria of Anna University Engineering Entrance (TNEA)

Students should check the eligibility criteria for TNEA before applying. The eligibility conditions for TNEA Counselling 2024 include nativity, educational qualifications with specific subjects, and program-specific requirements for the marine engineering branch. Nativity Eligibility Criteria

Students from Tamil Nadu should follow the instructions below when applying for TNEA 2024.

  • If students have completed class 12 in Tamil Nadu, they can apply for TNEA without including Nativity Certification.
  • Students who have finished class 12 or its equivalent from educational organizations outside Tamil Nadu can also apply. They must include a duplicate copy of their Nativity Certificate, which should be a soft copy or digitally signed e-Certificate.
  • Sons or daughters of Central Government Employees can apply for admission, regardless of their nativity. That is valid if their mother and father or guardian (only if both parents are not alive) have been employed in Tamil Nadu consistently for the past 5 years. Certificates from the parents or guardian's company supporting this should be attached.
  • Wards of All India Service Tamil Nadu cadre authorities are eligible for admissions.
  • Wards of employees in government-recognized institutions or the public sector in Tamil Nadu who have been working continuously for 5 five years can also apply.
  • They do not need to submit a domicile certificate. Instead, a certificate from the company must be submitted with the application, stating that the individual is a permanent member of the company, along with proof like an Income Tax Return for the past 5 years.

Qualifying Exam Eligibility Criteria

These are the minimum academic qualifications needed for a student to be eligible for TNEA 2024. The TNEA eligibility criteria 2024, based on Qualifying Exams, are:

  • Students must pass HSC (Academic/ Vocational) with Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry as the main subjects.
  • Students in the general category must achieve an aggregate of 50% in HSC (Academic/ Vocational).
  • Students in the Backward Class, including Backward Class Muslim students, must achieve an aggregate of 45% in HSC (Academic/ Vocational).
  • Students in MBC (Most Backward Classes) and DNC (Denotified Class) must achieve an aggregate of 45% in HSC (Academic/ Vocational).
  • Students in SC/SCA/ST (Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Caste sub-category/ Scheduled Tribe) must achieve an aggregate of 45% in HSC (Academic/ Vocational).

Mining Engineering Branch Eligibility Criteria

The TNEA eligibility criteria for 2024 for Mining Engineering are specifically for female students interested in studying the program. Female students should remember the following:

  • According to the Mines Act 1952, section 46, no woman can work:
    • In any part of the mine below the ground.
    • In any part of the mine above the ground except between the hours of 6 A.M. and 7 P.M.
  • According to the Coal Mines Regulation 1957, section 86, no woman or adolescent can go up or down using a shaft in a cage or other means of conveyance unless one or more adult males accompany them.
  • Female students must also fulfill the academic requirements of Anna University.

Marine Engineering Branch Eligibility Criteria

Students who wish to apply for Marine Engineering through TNEA 2024 need to meet some extra eligibility criteria. Here are the eligibility requirements for students applying for the Marine Engineering Degree Programme through TNEA:

  • Qualifying Exam: Class 12
  • Main Subjects: Maths, Physics, and Chemistry
  • Required Aggregate Marks: 60% (including a minimum of 50% in the English subject)
  • Upper Age Limit: 25 years
  • Other Requirements:
  • Minimum Height: 157 centimetres
  • Minimum Weight: 48 kg
  • Must have standard color vision
