TNEA 2021 Eligibility criteria
Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission Exam has set certain criteria for the students to get eligible for appearing the entrance examination. However the eligibility set by this institute is easily to fulfill but based on the fulfillment of the eligibility criteria only the seat will be allotment to the candidates to take admission in the colleges.
TNEA 2021 eligibility for Native candidates:
- Candidates appearing for TNEA should be of age not more than 26 years.
- The minimum qualification required is candidates should have completed 12th/intermediate from a recognized board.
- Candidates should minimum attain 50% aggregate for general category and 45% for reserved category candidates in mandatory subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
- Candidates should have passed their 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th from Tamil Nadu state itself.
TNEA 2021 eligibility for Marine Engineering:
- Candidates should secure a minimum of 60% score in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English.
- The minimum weight of the candidate should be 48 kg and minimum height should be 157cms along with a normal vision.
TNEA 2021 eligibility for other state candidates:
- A minimum of 50% aggregate score in 12th from a recognized board in mandatory subjects like physics, chemistry and mathematics are mandatory to seek admission.
TNEA 2021 Application Form & fees
TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission) is a state level admission procedure. TNEA 2021 Application Form will be released in the month of May 2021. Every year it is been conducted by Anna University. TNEA is not any entrance exam it is an admission process through which the university offers admissions in B.Tech/BE course as the university does not conduct any entrance exam to offer admissions in these courses.
Based on the qualifying examination (12th class) score admissions will be offered. There is no separate entrance exam conducted for admissions to the course while considering candidates marks in the class 12th and college put up cut-off TNEA counselling will be held through which seat allotment will be done. TNEA 2021 Eligibility Criteria
To seek admissions for engineering courses applicants need to be aware of the TNEA eligibility criteria. Candidates qualified the eligibility conditions will be eligible to apply for the admissions. Few of the basic eligibility norms include Qualification, Nationality, Marks criteria, Nativity, Age limit, Appearing etc.
Qualification: Candidates must have passed standard 12th from any recognized board.
Nationality: Candidates must be the citizen of India to apply.
Nativity: Candidates passed 10+2 level from Tamil Nadu state will be eligible to apply. Also other state candidates passed 10+2 from Tamil Nadu state shall be eligible to apply. As well children of central govt. are eligible.
Marks Criteria: Candidates should have secured minimum of 50% aggregate in the qualifying examination to be eligible while for OCB category 45% and that of for SC/ST category 40% aggregate is required.
Appearing: Applicants appearing for their 12th grade are also eligible.
For Marine Engineering Eligibility Required is:
Age Limit: Upper age limit to apply will be 25 years. Minimum age required to apply is 18 years of age.
Qualification: Candidates should pass 10+2 level or equivalent exam from any recognized board.
Marks: Candidates must have mandatory subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in their class 12th and should have obtained 60% marks.
Subjects: Candidates must have passed 12th level keeping Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, and English as mandatory subjects.

How to Apply for TNEA 2021
Steps to follow to apply for TNEA 2021
- Visit the official site of TNEA
- Click on New Registration Button
- Enter candidates basic details like their name, valid phone number, email ID etc. and submit it.
- On the new page click on login button and enter candidates credentials i.e. registration number and DOB.
- Fill all the information like candidate’s personal details, academic as well communicational and others.
- Now upload all the necessary documents like photograph (passport size) and signature in the application form.
- The documents has to be uploaded in the format (jpg/ jpeg file)
- Now to proceed with the application fee payment click on the payment tab and enter application fee details.
- Application fee can be done through offline or online mode.
- Online payment shall be done via debit/credit card or through internet banking.
- If the application fee is cleared through offline mode that shall be made through demand draft.
- In the final check all the details provided in the application form, then take a printout send the same to the authority.
TNEA 2021 Syllabus & Exam Pattern
As the entire selection process is based on counselling and merit listing and candidates need not appear for any examinations, there can be no syllabus for the examination. The merit list is prepared on the basis of the marks scored by the candidates in the higher secondary examination and higher is the score of the candidates, better will be their chances to get admission to the courses.
Screening is done entirely based on the merit list that the university prepares on the basis of the marks candidates scores in Higher Secondary examination as well as meeting another point of eligibility, as prescribed by the University. The university will process the applications received from the candidates and will prepare a merit list. All the open positions will be filled through this merit list and there is no provision of any screening examination linked with this process.
TNEA 2021 Admit Card
There is no provision for Admit card for this screening as candidates will not have to appear for any examination, but admissions are made based on counselling and merit list prepared by the university, based on the academic scores and the candidates meeting other prescribed eligibility criteria.
TNEA 2021 Results & Score Card
The admission authorities of TNEA 2021 exam result will declare in the month of June. The result will be declared through the Anna University official website. The admission will be based on the score attained in the 12th examination. The merit list to take admission in Tamil Nadu Engineering institute will be declared by the concerned authorities. Applicants who successfully satisfy the eligibility criteria set by the university will be eligible to seek admission in their respective colleges through TNEA 2021 score.

TNEA 2021 Counselling & Admission
Counseling for the TNEA 2021 Entrance Examination will be started soon after the declaration of results. Candidates with an appropriate score in TNEA will be eligibility to attend the counseling process and the seat will be allotted based on the merit rank.
Three types of counseling:
- Special Counseling: For the candidates seeking admission through various quotas such as Sports quota, Differently Abled and Ex-Serviceman children.
- Vocational Counseling

TNEA 2021 Seat Reservation:
The admission authorities of Anna University, allocates the seats for the candidates based on the merit list. The foremost priority will be given to the Tamil Nadu candidates than the other state candidates. The choice opted by the candidates will be taken into consideration during seat allotment, and once the seat is allocated candidates will have to make the fee payment.
TNEA 2021 Rank List:
Rank list of TNEA will be prepared by the admission authorities of Anna University, taking into consideration the scores obtained in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. The rank list will be made available in the month of June for those candidates, who have successfully completed the online registration process.
Rank list is prepared based on the total marks i.e., 200 out of which 100 marks is been allocated to Mathematics and 100 marks to Physics + Chemistry. In case if two or more candidates obtain the same score the decision will be based on:
- Percentage of marks in Physics
- Percentage of marks obtained in Mathematics
- Percentage of marks in the fourth optional subject
- Random number assigned
- Age of the candidate
Tie Breaking Criteria for TNEA:
In certain situation, if couple or more candidates will secure same score in 12th and it becomes a tie, based on certain criteria’s the tie can be broken between the candidate’s scores.
- Percentage of marks in Mathematics
- Based on age (with preference given to the older candidate)
- If tie persists at this stage, random numbers assigned to candidates will be used to break the deadlock.
- Percentage of marks in optional subject
- Percentage of marks in Physics
