Admission for B Tech in Gujarat: Eligibility, Application Process, Selection Process, Counselling & Seat Allotment

Gujarat is situated in the western part of India. It has numerous government, private engineering colleges and universities that offer B Tech education in several streams. Gujarat B Tech admission process will be conducted by the ACPC (Admission Committee for Professional Courses). Aspirants who are willing to secure admission for B Tech in Gujarat under state quota must make mandatory clear the state level entrance exam GUJCET (Gujarat Common Entrance Test), which will be organized by Gujarat Board of Secondary & Higher Education. In government colleges of Gujarat, 100% of seats will be filled through GUJCET score, whereas in Private colleges, 50% of seats will be filled through GUJCET score, and the remaining 50% seats are reserved for B Tech Management Quota.

Candidates from other than Gujarat state are also eligible to pursue a B Tech course in Private Engineering Colleges of Gujarat. However, 5% of seats are reserved in private colleges for the other state students, and such candidates should have a valid JEE Main score to get admission for B Tech. Eligibility Criteria for B Tech Admission in Gujarat

Academic Qualification: Aspirants willing to apply for B Tech Course in Gujarat should fill the eligibility criteria prescribed under the respective colleges. The required eligibility is candidates must have cleared 10+2 examination with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in science stream (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics as main subjects). Candidates who belong to the reserved category will have a 5% of relaxation in the aggregate score as per government norms.

Domicile Rules: Candidates who have finished their education in Gujarat state board school or any other equivalent till 10th are eligible for admission into B Tech in Gujarat. Such candidates can compete for the state quota seats or admission under the concession quota. TFW (Tuition fee waiver scheme, government scholarships will be applicable for the Gujarat domicile candidates.

Candidates from Union Territories, namely Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Diu & Daman, can also compete for B Tech admission under state quota. Candidates from other than Gujarat state are also eligible for securing B Tech admission with a valid JEE Main score. However, they can secure admission only in the Private Engineering colleges of Gujarat.

Application Process for B Tech Admission in Gujarat

Candidates seeking to get admission for the B Tech course in Gujarat must appear for the GUJCET entrance exam. B Tech admission process will begin through the commencement of the GUJCET online registration process. Hence, candidates need to apply the application form for GUJCET to take up the entrance exam. The guidelines for filling up the GUJCET application form follows.

Step 1: Registration: At first, candidates must visit the official portal (@ gujcet.gseb.org) then click on the “New Candidate Registration” link. At this step, candidates must provide all the relevant details, including a valid Email ID & Mobile Number. Upon successful registration, login credentials will be created.

Step 2- Filling up the GUJCET application form: Candidates must log in by using those generated credentials. After the successful login, candidates can fill up the application form by entering all the relevant information.

Step 3-Payment of GUJCET application fees: After filling up the form completely, candidates are required to the stipulated application fees via online mode and the application fee charges INR 300

Step 4: Upload the Documents: Upon successful payment, candidates are required to upload the scanned images of the Photograph, Signature and other required educational documents in the prescribed format.

B Tech Admission Process in Gujarat

ACPC (Admission Committee for Professional Courses) is responsible for conducting the B Tech admission process in Gujarat. The GUJCET entrance exam will be held by Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board. The mode of examination will be the offline mode (Pen-paper based). After the declaration of the GUJCET result, the admission authority will prepare the merit list of the candidates who have qualified in the GUJCET entrance exam and also by considering the aggregate score in 10+2

  • The authority will prepare the merit list by providing 60% weightage for the candidates aggregate marks acquired in the 10+2 examination. The remaining 40% weightage is given for the GUJCET entrance exam score. By considering these factors, a merit list will be released on the respective website.
  • Candidates whose names are featured in the merit list need to participate in a counselling session for further selection process and seat allotment process. To take part in counselling, candidates are required to register for counselling online.

Counselling Process for B Tech Admission in Gujarat

The Counselling session will be conducted by ACPC (Admission Committee for Professional Courses). GUJCET score is mandatory to take part in B Tech counselling sessions. The B Tech counselling process involves several stages. Candidates who wish to take part in the Gujarat B Tech counselling session, required to visit the nearest Kotak Mahindra Bank and must obtain an information booklet & PIN by paying the fees INR 350

Online Registration: Candidates need to visit the respective website and click on the “New Registration” Option, and candidates need to select the course name “Degree Engineering”. Then enter all the relevant details like GUJCET roll number & application number and click on the “Submit” option.

Then the online registration window will open. Candidates are required to fill up the required details to create login credentials. Upon successful registration, login credentials will be created, and the registration form will display on the screen. Candidates are advised to take the printout of it.

Document verification at help centres: Candidates must visit the designated help centres and submit the original necessary documents along with the hard copy of the registration form. The verification authority will retain the original documents, and they will issue a registration receipt for the verified students.

Online choice filling: To fill up choices, candidates must visit the official portal, which has been mentioned in the information Booklet and must enter the login credentials generated during the counselling registration process.

The list of engineering colleges & B Tech Specializations will display on the screen. Candidates are required to choose the colleges according to their preferences, and they can fill up a maximum number of choices since there is no limit. After confirming, candidates are advised to lock the choice to confirm and submit it.

Seat Allotment: At first, the authority will release the mock allotment list for the trial procedure to create awareness among students about the seat allotment process. It will be helpful for the candidates to modify or change the existing choices for the final allotment.

Then the final seat allotment will be declared by considering candidates choice of preferences and merit rank. To access the seat allotment order, candidates must log in to the portal and download the allotment letter. In addition, candidates with seat allotment orders need to pay the required B Tech admission fee for seat confirmation. Finally, they must report to the allotted institute to complete the further admission process.
