The DU MTech admission process 2026 has introduced a major change. This will be implemented from this year. For the first time, Delhi University will use the GATE score for MTech admission. Now you can apply for MTech through GATE score. The university has announced admissions to the MTech program in Microwave and Communication Engineering will be on GATE scores.

The decision was taken after Delhi University received approval from the AICTE. Earlier, DU used GATE scores only for PhD admissions. But now the university has decided to use them for PG courses as well. This will improve the quality of admissions. It will also attract more skilled engineering students.

First Preference to be Given to GATE Qualified Candidates

According to the university notification, you must have a valid GATE score. With this score, you will get first preference during admissions. However, if you have appeared for CUET PG 2026 then also you can apply for the course.

The university mentioned that the admission process will happen in two stages. In the first stage, seats will be offered to you on the basis of GATE scores. It is also dependent on category wise merit. If there are any seats vacant, then seats will be filled using CUET PG scores.

Although the MTech course already existed, this is the first time for Delhi University to take admission through GATE. This is implemented for a PG engineering course. The change was introduced after AICTE approval.

DU MTech Program Eligibility Criteria

If you want to apply for the DU MTech course 2026, you must meet the eligibility criteria. The criteria are announced by university. You must have completed BTech, BE, BSc engineering, MSc or any other equivalent degree. Your degree must be from a recognised university.
