Eligibility Criteria for Engineering Admission in Bihar

Academic Qualification: Applicants looking to apply for Engineering admission in Bihar should meet the prescribed eligibility criteria. Candidates must note that candidates should be aware of the eligibility criteria before applying the respective college application form because each college’s eligibility varies. But the basic eligibility is candidates shall have passed in 10+2 examination with a minimum 40% to 45% aggregate marks from any recognized board. According to the government norms, candidates who belong to SC/ST Category will be having 5% of relaxation in aggregate marks.

Domicile Rules: Permanent residents of Bihar state living in Bihar state for the past 10 years are eligible to apply for Engineering admission in Bihar under State Quota. Candidates whose parents are serving government jobs in Bihar are also eligible for Engineering admission. Only Bihar domicile candidates are eligible for government reservation policies and tuition waiver schemes.

Application Process for Engineering Admission in Bihar

Candidates who are willing to apply for Engineering admission in Bihar must clear the BCECE entrance exam with a valid score. To appear for BCECE, candidates must apply for the application form via online mode. Check out the following steps to fill up the BCECE application form.

Step 1-Registration: At first, candidates need to visit the official portal and register themselves by entering the required details. After filling up the details, candidates will receive an “activation code” for their registered mail ID.

Then, candidates must visit the “Applicant Login” screen and enter the activation code to activate the account. The account will then be activated, and candidates need to use login credentials to sign up for the account.

Step 2-Fill up the application form of BCECE: Candidates required to fill the application form via online mode by entering all the necessary academic and other relevant details appropriately

Step 3-Upload the Documents: After filling up the form completely, candidates should upload the scanned images of passport-sized photos and signatures according to the prescribed format.

Step 4: Payment of application fees: After uploading, candidates should pay the required BCECE application fees, and payment can be made either in online or offline mode. Upon successful payment, candidates are required to submit the form. Candidates are advised to download the form and take the printout of the application form for future reference.

BCECE application fees for General, BC, OBC Category costs approximate INR 1000, and for SC/ST/PWD Category application fee charges INR 500.

Selection Process for Engineering Admission in Bihar

Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board prescribed the cut-off criteria for the BCECE entrance. Candidates who qualify in the BCECE entrance exam with prescribed cut-off criteria are eligible to appear for a counseling session to secure admission for Engineering. The admission authority will prepare the eligible candidates' merit list by considering their entrance examination rank.

  • Candidates whose name is featured in the merit list need to appear for a counseling session. Candidates with valid JEE Main entrance exam scores are also eligible to apply.
  • The admission authority will release the merit list/rank list via online mode on its official website; candidates must log on to the website and check their allotted rank.
  • Candidates who belong to the general category need to secure a minimum 50% aggregate score in the BCECE entrance exam (600 cuts off Escoto qualify for Engineering admission in Bihar.
  • Whereas candidates who belong to SC/ST/SC (reserved category) need to score a minimum of 40% (480 cuts off score), and Physically Handicapped students need to score a minimum of 40% to 45% to secure Engineering admission.

Counselling Process for Engineering Admission in Bihar

Candidates who have cleared the BCECE entrance exam with prescribed cut-off marks are eligible to participate in the E-Counselling session, which BCECEB will conduct. According to the prescribed schedule, candidates need to participate in counseling. Bihar Engineering Counselling process involves several stages, which are described below.

Registration for E-Counselling: At first, candidates are required to visit the respective website and must click on “BCECE Admission.” Then, candidates must select the Engineering course, enter the registration number of the BCECE entrance exam and date of birth, and other relevant details.

After filling in up details, candidates need to create a unique password. After the successful creation of the password, OTP will be generated, and it will be sent for the candidate's registered Mail ID or Mobile number. Then, candidates need to enter the received OTP number to complete the registration process.

Choice filling: Upon successful registration, candidates must fill up choices in the options form. The participating colleges' list will display on the screen, and candidates need to fill up the choices according to their preference. Candidates are advised to select a maximum number of choices in option form. After filling it up, click on “Save Choice.”

If candidates are satisfied with the choices, they can click on “lock choices,” and candidates are required to enter the mandatory password, which was generated during the counseling registration process to lock the option.

Seat Allotment Process for Engineering Admission in Bihar

Bihar Engineering admission seat allotment process will be done by considering the candidates' rank in the entrance exam and their preferences. The admission authority will release the seat allotment order on its official website through online mode. Also, eligible candidates will receive their seat allotment status for their registered mail ID. Candidates are advised to download the seat allotment letter and print it out.

Candidates need to visit the designated reporting center and the seat allotment letter and carry educational documents for verification purposes. Verified candidates need to pay INR 2,500 through demand draft favoring the respective allotted institute.

Once the document verification is done, candidates must visit the allotted engineering college within the specified schedule and pay the first-year Engineering fees for seat confirmation.
