UPESEAT - UPES Engineering Aptitude Test

University of Petroleum and Energy Studies Engineering aptitude Test (UPESEAT) is the University level entrance examination conducted by the UPES, Dehradun for admitting students in its 37 Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) programme.

The University offers B. tech programme in several disciplines. University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) was established in the year 2003 through UPES Act, 2003 of the State Legislature of Uttarakhand. With an ambitious vision and unique approach,

UPES emerged as an innovative institution offering industry-focused specialized graduate, post graduate and doctoral programs in key areas such as Energy, Infrastructure, Transportation, Information Technology, Design, Planning & Architecture, Public Policy and Legal studies.

UPESEAT Eligibility criteria

Eligibility criteria given below:

The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) admission will be done through UPESEAT (80% seats) and through non examination pathway (10% seats will be filled through Board merit and 10% seats through JEE Main merit). The eligibility conditions required to apply are as follows:

Examination Pathway (UPESEAT):

The candidates must have completed 10th and 12th with minimum 60% marks.
Must have secured minimum aggregate of 60% in PCM at 10+2.

80% seats through UPESEAT:

Candidates must have scored minimum 60% marks at Higher & Senior Secondary level 10 and 12th with minimum of 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics at Senior Secondary level (12th).

Non Examination Pathway (Board Merit & JEE Main Merit):

  • 20% seats through Board Merit:
  • Candidates must have scored minimum 80% marks at Higher Secondary level (10th & 12th) and minimum 80% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics at Senior Secondary level (12th class)
  • Based on JEE Main 2019 Performance:
  • Candidates must have scored minimum 60% marks at Higher & Senior Secondary level with minimum 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics at Senior Secondary level (12th class).
  • JEE Main cut-off rank announced after the declaration of JEE Main Result.

UPESEAT Application Form & fees

The application form will be available from the first week of November (tentatively) and submission of the application form will be from first week of May (tentatively).

Application Fee:-

  • Through Demand Draft/online – Rs.1850/-
  • By Cash – Rs.1750/-
  • The online payment can be done through Credit card/ Debit card /Net Banking.
  • The candidates can also collect the application form along with UPES prospectus from admission counters at Ahmedabad / Chandigarh/ Cochin / Coimbatore / Delhi / Dehradun / Hyderabad / Kolkata / Mumbai by making the payment through DD or by cash. The DD should be drawn in favour of “UPES Fee Account”, payable at New Delhi / Dehradun.

UPESEAT Syllabus & Exam Pattern

The examination patterns of UPESEAT are given below:

  • The question paper type of the entrance examination will be objective type.
  • The exam time duration of 3 hours.
  • There will be no provision of negative marking.
  • One mark will be awarded for every correct answer.

The candidates are advised to prepare the PCM subjects, English Language Comprehension and Current Affairs. For PCM sections, the candidates can refer the syllabus of JEE Main. Candidates can read their academics books of class 11th and 12th, NCERT books for preparing UPESEAT exam.

UPESEAT Admit Card

Admit Card can be downloaded from the official website of UPES in the second week of May. The duly completed downloaded Admit Card with photograph affixed (duly attested) in the space provided will have to be produced at the allotted test centre.
Candidates without the admit card or card without the photograph will not be permitted to take the test.

UPESEAT Results & Score Card

Result will be declared by UPES tentatively in the first week of May. Result will display the overall and category wise ranks along with aggregate and section wise marks of the examinees in the entrance exam.

UPES offers limited scholarships in 5% seats of B. Tech (all disciplines). 100% scholarship on the tuition fee is offered to those candidates who secure 85% aggregate marks in class 12th and 90% marks in PCM. The distribution of scholarship will be done on the basis of merit.

UPESEAT Counselling & Admission

Conduct their counselling in the 2nd week of June. Counselling for UPES will be conducted separately for JEE Main as well as UPESEAT qualified candidates in the third and fourth week of June. Depending upon the total number of candidates for counselling and numbers of vacant seats, the university may conduct the counselling for admission in one or more than one phases.

Counselling Procedure:

  • Counselling will be a centralized process.
  • Grant admissions to 80% of the total seats on the basis of UPES Engineering Aptitude Test Result.
  • For granting admission to remaining 20% of the seats, the University will consider respective Board Merit or JEE Main Rank.
  • Short listed candidates will have to attend Counselling in person at the specified venue on the scheduled date and time.
  • UPES will consider following three Rankings for Seat Allotment UPSEAT Merit Ranking Exam Board Merit Ranking JEE Main Merit Ranking.
  • Candidates must submit their original documents during Counselling.
  • Along with the original documents, candidates must have brought one set of photocopies of all the specified documents as they will be asked to submit the photocopies along with the originals.

Documents required for Counselling:

  • 4 passport size recent photographs
  • Admit Card
  • Counselling Call Letter
  • Marks sheets of Class 10 & 12 along with one set of self-attested photocopies. The University will retain the photocopies.
