TANCET - Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test

Tamil Nadu common entrance is called TANCET MBA Exam. The exam is organized by the Anna University, Chennai.  Tancet is a state level university entrance examination. It is conducted for the admission in Post Graduate programme. The interested candidates can opt for the admission in the colleges only in Tami Nadu State after giving this entrance test. The degree program is offered by the government support engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu.The examination will be conducted in the month of June. (Tentatively).

TANCET Eligibility criteria

Exam is having few eligibility criteria which the candidates need to follow, if the criteria’s are not being fulfilled, there is a chance of getting cancelled the application form directly by the exam conducting authority.

The following are the eligibility criteria for the interested candidates to go through for the further procedure to sit for the tancet exam.

  • The applicant must have a recognized graduation degree from any UGC approved or Government registered college degree.
  • The candidates should have to complete 10+2+3 or 10+2+4.
  • The candidate can be a graduate in any stream (B.sc/Bcom/Btech/B.E)
  • The students who will appear for the final examination of graduation are eligible for the TANCET 2017 exam. But the candidates need to submit the final year documents before the given mentioned dates by the university.
  • The minimum graduation marks should be 50 % in aggregate.
  • For reserved category the marks will reduced to 45% in aggregate.

Kindly note: If the above eligibilities are not matching then the application may get rejected.

TANCET Application Form & fees

Application form will be available in both online and offline mode. For the online process the application form will be available in the official website of the university. The forms will available form 3rd week of May .

The candidates must have a recent scanned image of the photograph which is required for the form fill up.
 For the offline procedure the candidate has to collect the application form manually for the mentioned co-coordinating centers, the details of this information will be available on the official website.

The application form fill up of TANCET is easy and less time taking for the candidates to fill the form.

Application form fee:

  • Application fee is Rs.500/- for general candidates and for reserved category the fee is Rs.250/-.
  • For the reserved category candidates, the caste certificate is mandatory.

The following are the online procedure for filling up the application form:


  • The candidates need to visit the official website to fill the application form: www.annauniv.edu
  • The applicants will be provided with a username and login password after the registration, it will be provided in their email id.
  • By using the login id, the candidate can login to their account.
  • The candidates should fill the details required like, Name, address, gender, contact no., Date of Birth, exam center. All academic qualification details of class X and XII and for higher studies also.
  • The applicants are requested to fill the form properly without any mistake as the application fee is non-refundable.
  • After the form fill up completion, the candidates will be asked to upload the scanned image of their recent photograph.
  • Followed by this the applicants need to do the application form fee submission.
  • The applicants are advised to take the print out of the application form        .
  • With the print out of the application form, the students need to send the documents to the address given with the application form.
  • The documents should reach before the mentioned date by the exam authority.
  • The following are the offline procedure for the application form fill up.
  • The applicant should obtain the application form from the coordinating centers in person.
  • The applicants need to collect the application form.
  • Once the form is filled, the candidates can pay by cash or Demand draft in the office counter.
  • The candidates are advised to visit the centers in the allotted time mentioned by the authority.
  • The application fee to be paid via cash or DD in the favor of ‘The secretary, TANCET, Anna University’, payable at Chennai forms any nationalized bank.

Documents required for the application form:

  • All academic mark sheets of the candidates along with the latest degree.
  • Form paid receipt.
  •  The Attested photocopy of the permanent resident certificate to be issued by the Government of Tamil Nadu.

TANCET Syllabus & Exam Pattern

  • Exam pattern is an objective type MCQ pattern.
  • The total duration of the exam will be of 2 hours.
  • There will be total 100 questions which will have 4 to 5 options and the candidates need to choose the correct answer among them.
  • The question paper will be divided into three parts, among which the 2 parts are compulsory while the other part is on chosen subject. Each correct answer will carry 1 marks and the wrong answer will deduct 1/5 negative marking.
  • The questions will be based on mathematical problems, written English, data sufficiency etc.
  • The paper will comprise of Quantitive aptitude, logical reasoning, Verbal Ability and Data Interpretation
  • Part 1- 30 questions 1 mark with correct answer
  • Part 2- 30 questions 1 mark with correct answer
  • Part 3- Candidates must choose a choice of a section out of 14 based on area of specialization and answer 40 Questions with 1 mark for each correct answer.

TANCET Admit Card

Admit will be available on the official website. The candidates can download form the website. It will be available on the 1st week of June . The admit card is required at the time of the entrance test examination hall. The admit card will contain all the details of the exam time, venue etc.

If the candidate somehow, lost the admit card, they need to pay Rs. 100 to avail a new admit card, they need make DD to the following address.

TANCET Results & Score Card

RESULT will be declared in last week of June. The candidates need to visit the official website of the Anna University. The candidates can download the results form there and need to present at the time of counseling. The candidates will receive the hard copy of the result in 10 days of time after the result declaration.

TANCET Counselling & Admission

Candidates will get admission on the basis of the rank obtained by them in the entrance exam. The counselling schedule will be announced by the conducting body on the official site. The TANCET Counselling will be started from the July . Candidates will be called for the counselling process on the basis of the rank list.

Tancet exam centers are the places where the candidates can go the examination. This enters location to be filled at the time of application form fill up. The candidate can choose it by their own preferences according to the distance , compare time to reach the center and keeping other important things in mind. It depends o the candidates choice to select the exam center by their own choice.
