Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology came into operation formally with the supposition of the workplace of the principal Vice Chancellor on January 15, 2001 as a continuation of the declaration of THE WEST BENGAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY ACT, 2001, under West Bengal Act XV of 2000 go by the West Bengal Legislature.

From July 16, 2001, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology began its scholastic program, after a Notification from the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal dated June 15, 2001 through the connection of Engineering and Management Institutions/Colleges and has entered the eighth year of its working.

B. Tech at Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, offers B. Tech regular & lateral entry courses in various specializations. Basic eligibility mandatory for admission into B. Tech course is that, candidates must have completed their senior secondary school from a reputed board or organisation and must have secured an average mark of 50% (45% in case of reserved category).

Final selection for admission is made on the basis of score that the student secure in WBJEE entrance examination, which is conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Board

WBJEE entrance examination is conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Board for admission into B. Tech, B. Arch and B. Pharm programmes. WBJEE exam is conducted once in a year and the mode of examination is offline.

Eligibility criteria for appearing in WBJEE examination is:

  • Aspirants must be an Indian citizen
  • Candidate must be at least 17 years of age to appear for the exam, there is no upper age limit for appearing in WBJEE.
  • Candidate must have passed 10+2 with physics, chemistry and mathematics as the compulsory subject from a recognised board, with at least 50% aggregate marks.

Steps for filling the WBJEE application form is as follows:

  • The first step for the candidates to appear for WBJEE entrance exam is to fill the online WBJEE application form from the official website of WBJEE.
  • The second step is to download the WBJEE admit card. (Admit card issued by the agency is a mandatory document which needs to be carried to the examination centre)
  • The third step is that, student must appear for WBJEE exam as per the schedule mentioned in the admit card. (candidates are advised to check the exam centre one day before the commencement of examination).
  • Forth step is to check the result, WBJEE results will be declared online and the candidates can check the result on the official website of WBJEE.
  • Fifth step is to participate in WBJEE counselling: Candidates with valid score as per the cut off marks will have to participate in the counselling process for document verification and seat allocation.

Documents that should be carried at the time of counselling are:

  1. Admit card that was issued at the time of examination
  2. Documents of education qualification (10th, 12th marks card); original + attested copies.
  3. ID Proof (Voter ID, Pan Card, Adhaar Card or Driving License)
  4. Passport size photographs

M. Tech at Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, offers PG level, 2 years duration of M. Tech course with multiple specializations in the branch of Engineering and Technology. Admission into M. Tech courses at MAKAUT is offered on the basis of score that the student secure in GATE or PGET entrance examinations.

  1. PGET

PGET entrance examination is conducted by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology for admission into M. Tech and M Pharm courses. PGET entrance examination application form is mostly released in the first week of June and the exam will be held in the third or last week of July.

Eligibility criteria for appearing in PGET entrance examination:

  • Nationality of candidate must be Indian.
  • Candidate must have completed Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Pharmacy/ Architecture, with at least 50% aggregate marks from a recognised board.
  • Candidates who holds an M. Sc degree in relevant subject are also eligible to apply.
  • GATE/GPAT qualified students are also eligible for admissions.

Steps for filling the PGET application form is as follows:

  • Step 1: Filling of Application form

PGET application form can be filled online through the official website of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology.

  • Step 2: Uploading of documents

In this step, candidate is required to upload scanned images of his/her Signature/photographs as per the specifications provided by the authorities.

  • Step 3: Preview of Documents

After uploading all the necessary documents, candidates must preview all the documents before clicking on the final submit button.

  • Step 4: Final submission of Application form

Before submitting the final application form, candidates are requested to check all the details filled and make necessary changes if required.

After submission of the application form, an application number and password will be sent to the candidate via email or SMS.

  • Step 5: PGET application fee payment

Application fee can be paid online via credit/debit card or net banking. The application fee for General/OBC Candidates is INR 600 and for SC/ST/PwD Category candidates is INR 300. Once the application fee is paid, a slip will be generated on the screen. Candidates are required to download the slip for future reference.

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, offers wide range of PG programmes in the field of computer application, Arts, Commerce and Science. Selection into these programmes is granted on the basis of merit. Basic eligibility mandatory for admission into MBA courses is that, the candidate must hold a graduation degree in the field of Arts, science, commerce, Engineering, Technology, Medical, Dental, Agriculture or any other degree from a recognised board.

Final selection for admission into MBA course at MAKAUT, is made on the basis of score that the candidate secures in JEMAT entrance examination.

JEMAT entrance examination is conducted by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology for admission into MBA programmes. JEMAT exam is conducted online every year. Aspirants can fill the application form online through the official website of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology. Application fee is INR 600 for General & OBC and INR 300 for SC/ST candidates. Once the registration is done, candidates can download the admit card mostly in the last week of May and the exam is conducted mostly in first week of June. JEMAT exam result is declared mostly in third week of June.

After the result, candidates with valid marks are supposed to appear for counselling process for documents verification.

Can I get direct admission to the B-Tech program at Maulana Abdul Kalam University?

Students looking for B-Tech admissions at MAKAUT must have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 60%, and they must have secured a minimum cut-off score in WBJEE or JELET. There are no management quota seats.
