Heritage Institute of Technology (HIT), popularly known as HITK, is a premier private engineering college in Kolkata, West Bengal. Established in 2001 by the Kalyan Bharti Trust, it is affiliated with MAKAUT and holds NAAC 'A' accreditation alongside NBA accreditation for most of its departments. In the most recent NIRF 2025 rankings, the institute is positioned within the 201–300 rank band for Engineering in India.

 Heritage Institute of Technology courses include the B.Tech, M.Tech, and MCA programs. While the M.Tech program is a two-year program with only seven specializations, the B.Tech program is a four-year program with nine specializations. HIT courses require entrance exams for enrolment. The procedure for allocating seats is based on the candidate's preferred courses and the Heritage Institute of Technology cutoff.

 For the 2026–2027 academic session, the B.Tech fee is approximately ?1,02,700 for the first semester (including one-time admission, library, and caution fees), with subsequent semester fees around ?69,500. This brings the total annual cost to roughly ?1.4 to ?1.7 Lakhs. TFW (Tuition Fee Waiver) students pay significantly less, with admission fees starting at ?42,200. M.Tech fees are approximately ?1.2 Lakhs per annum, and MCA fees are roughly ?1.5 Lakhs per year. The hostel facility is primarily for girls on campus, with an estimated fee of ?70,000 per academic year, while boys typically utilize affiliated off-campus PGs and hostels in the nearby Kalikapur and Anandapur areas.

 HITK is highly regarded for its placements, particularly in the CSE and IT branches, where placement rates often exceed 90%. According to the 2025 NIRF report data for the 2024 graduating batch, the median package for UG students was ?4.78 LPA and ?5.22 LPA for PG students. Top recruiters include global giants like Amazon, Microsoft, and Google, alongside major mass recruiters like TCS, Cognizant, Wipro, and Infosys. The college also offers financial assistance and scholarships, such as the West Bengal Freeship Scheme (WBFSS) and specific grants for low-income families from the Calcutta Club Ltd.

I want to know the admission process for MBA.

 Heritage Institute of Technology do not offer MBA

I was originally a NEET dropout student. I did not appear for JEE mains or wbjee. Can i still apply?

Basically, candidates are mandated to appear either in JEE Main or WBJEE to be eligible for B Tech admission in Heritage Institute of Technology.

Undergraduate admissions (B.Tech) are based on WBJEE or JEE Main scores. Candidates must participate in the counselling process and complete the admission process by submitting the required documents.

At Heritage Institute of Technology, the total fee for direct admission to BTech CSE is Rs. 72,200 for General or SC students. It covers admission, tuition, and other charges. For students belonging to the TFW category, the fee is Rs. 28,200.
