The Government College of Technology (GCT)  was established in 1945. It is an autonomous engineering college located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. GCT is affiliated with Anna University. Initially, it was established as Arthur Hope College of Technology. The college has 129 total teaching faculty, and 3152 students are enrolled overall. With an "A" rating, the NBA and NAAC have approved GCT College Coimbatore. In the engineering category of the NIRF 2021 ranking, GCT Coimbatore is rated 128th. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has authorized the college.

The institute offers UG courses leading to the degree of Bachelor of Engineering and PG courses leading to the ME/M Tech degree. GCT Coimbatore courses are offered in 9 B Tech Disciplines and 11 M Tech disciplines. In addition, the college offers admission to the part times courses in four branches of B Tech. They are Civil, Mechanical, EEE and ECE. Besides, GCT offers MS (by research) and doctoral degrees in engineering. GCT Coimbatore's fee structure for BE is Rs. 9k per annum. The cost of studying at M Tech is INR 10k per annum.

The merit of the 10+2 qualifying exam is used to determine admission to the BE program at GCT Coimbatore, and students must take part in TNEA counseling.
