BITSAT - BITS Aptitude Test

BIT Science Aptitude Test (BITSAT) is a university level exam and is conducted by Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Pilani every year. BITSAT is conducted to provide admission to both UG and PG Courses like B.Tech, B.Pharma and M.Sc, a notification for the BITSAT exam is issued in the month of December. The campuses in which BITS offers admission are as follows: BITS Pilani Campus, K.K. Birla Goa Campus, Birla Hyderabad Campus.

It is considered as a great honor and pride to get admission in BITS Pilani.  BITS conducts Computer Based Test (CBT) on May 16th to May 30th.  Last date to apply for BITSAT is March 6th.Candidates with great level of interest and eligibility are required to get them registered at the official website.

Time schedule varies for each and every candidate as the slots are booked by the candidates as per their wish. 

Entry of student in the examination center , Entry in the Examination Hall, Switch on the CPU and monitor as per the instruction given by the center person and read instructions and click ’ start test’ based on the time scheduled.

BITSAT Eligibility criteria

The eligibility criteria to take up BITSAT exam is as follows: minimum marks of 60 % in 12th standard CBSE / State board in subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The aggregate percentage should come equivalent to 75%, The candidates who have passed class 12 in year are eligible to apply  ,

It is mandatory to take up the improvement exam in ALL subjects if the candidate prefers to take up any improvement exam, If the student plans to take up the 12th standard board exam in the year, the candidate should submit the 12th standard results marks at the time of admission

BITSAT Application Form & fees

BITSAT Application Form is available in online basis. The following steps can be read to complete the BITSAT online application. Candidates can register in BITS portal.

After successful registration, login with the valid credentials, key in all the necessary details like personal details, qualification etc., in the application form from March 7-10. Credit the prescribed application fee (Rs. 2700/- for male and Rs. 2250/- for female candidates) through online banking.

Print the filled application form for the future reference. If the candidate finds any incorrect details in the application form, it can be edited.

BITSAT Syllabus & Exam Pattern

The syllabus consists of questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The Question paper consists of 4 sections and the exam duration is 3 hours.  There will be 150 Objective type questions. For every correct answer 3 marks will be awarded and 1 marks will be deducted for incorrect answers. There is no negative marking if the question is unanswered. 

BITSAT Admit Card

The admit card can be downloaded in the official website between 15th April to 10th May. It is mandatory to bring the Admit card on the date of the examination as it contains the timings, venue details and details of the candidate. 

BITSAT Results & Score Card

Results will be released in the official website and the Candidates are advised to take printout of the results and keep it safe till the admission procedure.

BITSAT Counselling & Admission

Students of all the state and central board of India who secured top marks in the  exam will be given direct admission to the courses of their choices. Candidates applying for admissions are required to submit the admission application with 12th marks and preferences to different degree programmes along with required application fee before the due date.

Can I know the exam pattern ?

Here is the detailed Exam Pattern are mentioned below:

  • Duration: Here the duration will be total three hours (without break).
  • Exam Mode: Exam will be conducted in computer based mode.
  • Question Method: here the question paper will contain multiple choice questions.
  • The Marking System: Here 3 marks will be given for each correct answer.
  • They also have the Negative Marking: One mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.
  • Number of Question: and totally 150 questions will be asked fort he students.


For Btech program, where will I get Application form?  

Application form for Btech program: 

  • Application form will be made available via online mode.
  • The candidates need to visit the official website in order to fill the Application form.
  • First step is to fill up the basis information such as Name, Gender, Date of Birth, E mail, etc.
  • Then after filling up the details the candidates need to submit it.
  • Then the next step is to fill the other details such as 12th examination, Exam center preference etc.
  • Then the candidates need to make the required Application fee payment.
  • For Female candidates it is Rs. 2450 and for other candidates it is Rs 2950. The candidates can make the payment via Credit/debit/Net banking or via cash at ICICI Bank.

Syllabus for Logical Reasoning and English proficiency:

Syllabus for Logical Reasoning : 

  • The BITSAT syllabus for Logical reasoning mainly based on the NCERT syllabus of 11th, 12th standard. The main topics in Logical reasoning are Verbal Reasoning, Non-verbal reasoning, Binary logic, Analogy, Classification test, Alphabet Test, Eligibility Test, etc.
  • BITSAT syllabus for English proficiency:
  • For English proficiency, the major topics which will be asked are Reading Comprehension, Verbal Reasoning, Verbal Ability, Analogies, Syllogisms, Vocabulary, Synonyms, Antonyms, Conclusion, Composition, Comprehension, Word Formation, etc.


Which are the subjects do we have in Exam pattern for the Btech program and I want to know about the marks distribution? 

Exam Pattern Details:

  • Exam will have 4 parts, i.e. Part 1 has Physics, Part 2 has Chemistry and Part 3 has English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning. 
  • Exam will be held online via Computer based test.
  • Exam paper will be made published in English language.
  • Exam pattern, there will be total questions of 150. From each section.
  • In part -1, Each 40 questions will be asked. For Part-2, English Proficiency (15Qs), Logical Reasoning (10 Qs).  
  • Exam pattern, for each correct response, 3 marks will be provided.
  • Exam duration is of 3 Hours.
  • There is a negative marking system, 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Admission Process:

  • The candidates have to fill the Admission form via online process after they get qualified in 10+2 exam.
  • In the Admission form, they need to fill their 12th exam marks and their preferences. 
  • In the Admission Process, The seats allocation done for the students depending upon their marks and filled preferences. 
  • After allotting the seats, then the admission list will be released.
  •  Then the candidates need to report to the respective college where they have been allotted and they have to carry the required documents and fee to confirm their admission.
