TISSNET - TATA Institute Entrance Test

TISSNET happens to be a national entrance test which is conducted every year by TISS or TATA Institute of Social Sciences. The entrance test is conducted for candidates who are willing to seek admission in M.H.A, M.A., M.P.H and M.Sc. academic programs. TISS admission will be accomplished in accordance with the performance in the written examination.

On January 7th, 2019, the test was conducted at 39 centers in the major cities of the country. The results of the entrance examination were declared on 27th January. TISS institutes across the country accept the TISSNET scores. The examination is conducted for different masters programs held in TISS campuses at G-SET Ranchi, IMHST Chennai, Mumbai, MHAT Calicut, Guwahati, Hyderabad, and Tuljapur. The campuses do not provide any MBA course. Instead, it confers MA in HRM & LR (Human Resources Management and Labour Relations) or at the Mumbai campus. However, TISS has withdrawn admission in Hyderabad campus owing to unavoidable circumstances.

The selection procedure of this entrance test consists of three primary components which include National Entrance Test, Group Discussion, and Personal Interview. TISSNET is a computer based test where students require attempting at least 100 questions from 3 various subjects. The time allotment for the entrance test is 1 hour and 40 minutes.

Candidates must be aware of the eligibility criteria for seeking admission by TISSNET. Students who cleared the cut off and qualified TISSNET will be called for participating in group discussion and personal interview. Candidates can check and download the score card of the entrance examination from the official website. The TISSNET application form is available offline in different TISS campuses across the country. Candidates can also fill the application form in online mode which is a quick and simple procedure. Candidate must be at least 21 years of attending TISSNET.

TISSNET Exam Date

The examination for this year was held on 7th of January 2019. The institute organized the test in multiple centers, stretching across 39 cities in the country. The pre-interview test and the personal interview are scheduled to be held at the various campuses of the institute across the country between 10th of March and 7th of April 2019.

TISSNET Eligibility criteria

It is a prerequisite to meet the eligibility criteria for appearing in the TISSNET. To apply for this entrance test, an incumbent should hold minimum Graduation qualification through 15 years of compulsory education pattern. Candidates need to be an Indian citizen and candidates from the general category should have scored a minimum aggregate score of 50% in the qualifying examination.

Candidates from the SC, ST and OBC communities need to score a minimum of 45% in the qualifying examination. Candidates need to pass the qualifying examination from a university recognized by UGC. Students should be at least 21 years old for appearing in this entrance test.

 

TISSNET Application Form & fees

The application form for this examination is made available online for the month of November every year. Alternatively, incumbents can collect and submit the application form at the institute campus. The application fee can be remitted online through debit & credit card as well as through internet banking. Candidates can deposit the requisite fee in cash or in form of DD at the institute campus. The institute declares once the application forms are made available. 

TISSNET Syllabus & Exam Pattern

The syllabus for this examination resembles the syllabus of the graduation standard as observed by the recognized universities. You can refer to the website of the institute to get detailed information in this regard.  

This examination goes in stages that start with a screening test of the candidates, meeting the basic eligibility. Candidates qualifying this screening test will require taking the pre-interview test, followed by the personal interview. Each of these phases is rounds of elimination and to secure the admission, candidates will require qualifying through each of these steps successfully. The question paper for the preliminary test includes both the objective and subjective type questions. 

TISSNET Admit Card

Candidates making successful applications and found eligible to take the test can download the admit card for this examination from the website of the institute. The admit card will be sent to the candidates via email only. In any way, the admit card will not be sent to the postal address. The admit card is known to be an integral document of the TISSNET. It is to be noted that candidates will not be allowed to enter the examination hall without the admit card. Admit card consists of important details such as name and roll number of the candidate, time, place, and examination center.

TISSNET Results & Score Card

The result for TISSNET was previously scheduled to publish on 27th of January. The institute will be publishing the list of the selected candidates for all the programs on 21st April. Candidates can check the result from the website of the institute after the list gets published. The results of TISSNET 2018 will be available only online. Candidates need to make use of their login credentials for viewing the results. Candidates will receive the score card of this entrance examination via email.

TISSNET Counselling & Admission

Candidates who have qualified for TISSNET is called for counseling in accordance with the marks scored. They need to bring the original certificates and documents at the time of counseling. Admission may get canceled in case the candidate does not bring the prerequisite certificates and documents. Downloaded certificates and mark sheets will not be taken into consideration. Shortlisted candidates can check the counseling date by logging into the official website of TISSNET. It is essential to register at the official website to know the counseling dates.
