IGNOU OPENMAT is the entrance exam conducted by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), for admission to its MBA program. It is an aptitude test designed to assess the candidate’s aptitude in Management.
Apart from MBA it is also considered for admission to various other Management programs offered by School of Management Studies under IGNOU.
OPENMAT exams are usually conducted on February and August every year. The exams are usually scheduled to be conducted on Sundays which makes it convenient for you to attend the exam. The time table for OPENMAT 2018 is as follows:
OPENMAT: 21st August Sunday 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
OPENMAT: 5th February Sunday 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Attend the OPENMAT management entrance test for admission to MBA and other diploma programs conducted by IGNOU, you have to fill the relevant application form. The form for OPENMAT can be obtained in two ways:
Download From IGNOU official Website : The form is available for download on IGNOU’s official website wher you can get it in pdf format, which can be filled in and submitted at IGNOU on or before the specified dates.
From the Management Prospectus : The application form for OPENMAT is also available with the Management Prospectus published by IGNOU. You can get the “Form 1” along with an envelope attached to the prospectus.
The candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in any stream with 50% marks, if he/she belongs to the General category. Whereas, the reserved category candidates should have passed the graduation with at least 45% marks. Along with this, 3 years of experience in supervisory or managerial after graduation is a must. no age limit has been fixed by the authorities for taking up the exam.

The OPENMAT will test your ability in the following fields:
- General Awareness
- English Language
- Quantitative Aptitude
OPENMAT exams usually have the same pattern every year. There will be a total of 200 Multiple Choice Questions which you will have to complete in 3 hours time. The questions are divided into four sections.
General Awareness : 30 Questions
English Language: 50 Questions
Quantitative Aptitude: 50 Questions
Reasoning: 70 Questions
According to the OPENMAT exam pattern, there are 200 questions to be solved in 3 Hours. So for sections like General Awareness, don’t spend a lot of time thinking of an answer. If you are unable to answer a question in the first reading, simply leave the question and move to the next question. Attempt all the questions you know and then try for the questions you are somewhat doubtful. This way you can save a lot of time and attend maximum number of questions.
