Eligibility Criteria for B Tech Admission in Maharashtra

To get eligible for B Tech admission in Maharashtra, candidates must meet the prescribed eligibility criteria. Candidates shall have qualified in the 10+2 examination with a minimum 50% aggregate score in the science stream (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics as main subjects). As per the government rules, 5% of relaxation is provided in aggregate marks for the reserved category. Therefore candidates can secure a minimum of 45% marks in the qualifying examination.

  • Candidates who have secured three years diploma in engineering courses with a required score from any recognized institute can apply for the B Tech Lateral entry program.
  • Students from any other state are also eligible to secure admission for the Maharashtra B Tech program. Candidates should have a non-zero score in either MHT-CET or JEE Main entrance exam.
  • Students whose mother or father is domicile/resident of Maharashtra, such candidates need to submit the domicile certificate.

Application Process for B Tech Admission in Maharashtra

Candidates who willing to apply for the B Tech program in Maharashtra must register for the MHT-CET entrance exam. MHT CET application process will be conducted via online mode. Candidates can check out the following steps to fill up MHT CET online application form.

Step 1-Registration: At first, candidates need to register themselves by visiting the respective website. Once the registration process is completed, login credentials will be generated, and they will be sent for the candidate's registered mail ID.

Step 2-Filling up application form: Using those credentials candidates required to log in, the application form will display. Candidates must fill-up the relevant details like personal, contact, educational details, select the category, etc.

Step 3-Upload the Documents: Candidates must upload the scanned images of educational documents, photographs, and the signature in JPEG format, and candidates need to upload any one of the ID proofs in PDF format.

Step 4- Payment of Application Fees: Candidates are required to pay the stipulated application fee charges via online mode. MHT CET application fees for the general category costs INR 800, and for the reserved category, it charges around INR 600

Step 5-Confirmation Page- After the successful payment of application fees, a confirmation page will display on the screen. Candidates must take the printout of it for further reference.

B Tech Admission Process in Maharashtra

Admissions for B Tech will be granted based on the candidate's score secured in the entrance exam. Maharashtra engineering colleges accept MHT-CET and JEE Main scores, and some in reputed deemed universities conduct their own entrance exam to grant admission for B Tech. For Example, Symbiosis International Deemed University conducts SET (Symbiosis entrance test) to grant admission for different courses, including B Tech.

  • B Tech admission process usually begins with preparing a merit list for different categories. After the result declaration of the MHT-CET entrance exam, the examination will prepare the merit list based on the candidate’s performance in the MHT-CET and JEE Main Score entrance exam.
  • If the marks secured by the candidates in the qualified 10+2 examination are changed after the re-evaluation process, the admission changes the merit number of the re-verified candidates before the declaration of the final merit list.
  • All the candidates whose names are featured in the final merit list are eligible candidates to participate in Centralized Allotment Process (CAP) Counselling. Once the counseling session is completed, the seat allotment process will be done.

Counselling Session for B Tech Admission in Maharashtra

MHT CET will be organized by the Maharashtra CET Cell through Centralized Allotment Process (CAP). Eligible candidates can take part in counseling by registering through online mode. The counseling session concludes at certain stages, and candidates can check out the detailed steps mentioned below.

Step 1-Registration: At first, candidates are required to visit the respective portal and must click on “New Registration “and enter the relevant details, and then a password has to be created after the submission of details.

Step 2-Details on Types of Candidature: while registering, candidates must select the type of candidature according to their category.

Step 3-Enter Qualification and Exam Details: Candidates are required to enter the overall marks of Class 10th and 12th subject-wise and must mention the school's name.

Step 4-Uploading Scanned Images: Candidates are required to upload the scanned images of the Photograph and signature as per the prescribed format.

Step 5-Counselling Payment Fees: Candidates need to pay the counseling processing fees through online mode. MHT CET counseling fees for General & Outside Maharashtra State candidates cost INR 800, Reserved category of the Maharashtra Domicile candidates must pay INR 600, and NRI candidates need to pay INR 5000.

Step 6-Reporting at Admission facilitation center: Upon successful registration, candidates must report physically at the admission facilitation center and original documents for the document verification process.

Step 7-Option filling: Candidates are required to log in for the account by using their registered credentials; candidates are required to choose the colleges according to their choice. There is no certain limit for choosing the colleges in option form, and candidates can choose a maximum number of colleges in order of preference.

Seat Allotment for B Tech Admission in Maharashtra

The seat allotment in the participating college is carried out through CAP (Centralized Allotment Process), which will be done according to the candidate's merit ranking and choice filling. Candidates can check their seat allotment order by visiting the respective website by providing the Application number and date of birth details.
