Mudra Institute of Communication Admission Test [MICAT]
MICA Admission Test, also known as Mudra Institute of Communication Admission Test (MICAT) happens to be a postgraduate level entrance test which is conducted for students who are willing to seek admission in PGDM-C or Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Communications provided by MICA, Ahmedabad. Students need to qualify in any of the three entrance examinations of GMAT, XAT, and CAT. Candidates need to qualify MICA admission test which consists of different sections such as General Awareness, Verbal Ability, Quantitative ability, etc. Candidates who have qualified will be shortlisted for personal interview as well as Group Discussion Rounds. The merit list will be prepared after the complete of PI rounds.
The entrance examination is essentially a computer-based test. The question paper tests different skills of the candidate in Written Communication Abilities, Divergent Thinking, General Awareness, current affairs, verbal abilities, etc. There are different questions on psychometric test in the question paper. MICA determines the cut off after declaring the results. The cut-off is determined by considering different factors such as a number of candidates taking rest, the difficulty level of the entrance test, cut off from the previous year, etc. The cut-off is actually the minimum marks which is considered by the institute as a base. Candidates who have scored equal to or more than the cut off will be called for shortlisting procedure.
It is essential to check the eligibility norms before applying in these entrance examination. Candidates failing to meet the eligibility norms will be disqualified at the later stages of admission. The test paper for MICA consists of two booklets- Test Booklet 1 and test booklet 2. The first part comprises of Multiple choice questions whereas the second part comprises of 2 descriptive questions. There is a deduction of 1/4 marks for every wrong answer in the first booklet. There are 3 sections in second test booklet which comprise of descriptive questions.
MICAT Exam Date
The 1st phase of this test was conducted on 11th December 2018 and the 2nd phase has been scheduled on 12th February 2019. The group discussions and personal interview round will be conducted between 9th and 11th February 2019 in Ahmadabad. For the rest of the cities, GDPI will be holding between 17th and 20th of March 2019.
MICAT Eligibility criteria
Candidates should have earned a graduation degree in any stream from any recognized university. Students require having an aggregate of at least 50 % marks in the graduation course. Students in the final year of the examination are also eligible to apply, provided they can produce the mark sheet and the degree certificate at the time of admission. Candidates should hold valid score for CAT, MAT, and GMAT (2015 and onwards) to be considered eligible to seat at this examination. The minimum age for appearing in MICAT 2018 is 20 years.
MICAT Application Form & fees
The registration for the test was initiated on 30th September 2018 and the last date for submitting filled application form was on 27th November 2018. Students were given the chance to download and submit the application form online. The institute accepts the admission fees in forms of electronic transfers as well as through demand draft drawn in the favor of the institute. As for the 2nd phase of the test, the admission form was issued on 3rd January 2019 and the last date for submitting the filled application form was 31st January 2019.
MICAT Syllabus & Exam Pattern
The syllabus for this examination resembles the standard of the graduation examination. General knowledge, English, common aptitude, and test of reasoning are few of the key areas that the syllabus of this examination covers.
The examination includes a round of online test that involves aptitude and test of reasoning. Candidates qualifying for this round will have to appear at the rounds of group discussion and personal interview. Candidates will require answering objective type question. The examination includes a psychometric test as well. Candidates are required answering questions related to concepts and fundamentals of marketing, communication, general aptitude, and test of reasoning, usage of English as well as General Knowledge and contemporary affairs.
MICAT Admit Card
Candidates will be able to download the admit card for the 2nd phase of the examination from 6th February 2019 from the official website of the institute. The admit card consists of different useful information about the candidate which include name and roll number of the candidate, time, place, and venue of the examination. Candidates will have to compulsorily produce the admit card to get entry to the examination hall.
MICAT Results & Score Card
The results of MICAT 2018 will be announced tentatively on 20th February 2019. Candidates can check the result and download the score card from the official website of MICAT. The result can be availed only in online mode. The best of MICAT scores will be taken into consideration for shortlisting the candidates for more admission rounds. MICA will send an email to the shortlisted candidates. The shortlisted candidates need to appear for Group Exercise and personal interview. The final results will be declared tentatively on 31st March 2019.
MICAT Counselling & Admission
The selection procedure for MICAT includes three steps. The candidates require taking at least one of the national level entrance test viz. XAT, CAT or GMAT. Candidates require appearing in MICA Admission tests as well. The entrance examination will test the skills of the candidate on different topics. For selection procedure, students are shortlisted in accordance with the results of personal interview, Group Interview. After the personal interview and group discussion, officials assess overall personality, the capability of working in the team, communication skills and knowledge of the candidate for shortlisting of the candidates.

Exam Pattern for PGDM- Communication program:
- exam will be held online via Computer Based Test.
- Exam Pattern comprises of 2 sections.
- Exam will have both MCQs and subjective type questions.
- Section-I of exam will have 4 descriptive type questions.
- Section-II of exam will have total 94 questions (Psychometric Test- 30 statements , Reasoning & Verbal Ability- 35 questions and General Knowledge- 25 questions)
- 35 minutes duration for section-I & 130 minutes duration for Section-II.
