About National Institute of science and Technology

Since its establishment in 1996, the National Institute of Science and Technology Berhampur has maintained its commitment to its fundamental values and grown to be one of the best institutions in the state and the nation. It is the first NRI academic undertaking in the southern Odisha region. In addition, the Institute is among the first engineering colleges to be affiliated with Berhampur University. The SM Charitable Educational Trust is the sponsor of the NIST Berhampur. Dr. Sukant K. Mohapatra and Ms. Sanjeeta Mohapatra, NRIs resident in the US, founded the Trust in 1995 both as donors and trustees. The founders' main goal was to position NIST Berhampur in their native state of Odisha as a hub of academic achievement and research on par with the top universities worldwide.

The UGC's grant as an Autonomous college makes NIST Berhampur best for its excellent education, inventive creation, entrepreneurship, and global collaboration. According to DATAQUEST, NIST is ranked 66th among engineering schools in India for 2020. NIST Berhampur's ranking in India is 69 as per the 2016 NIRF poles. The reputation of the Institute shines bright with its various ranking within the top 100 engineering colleges in the nation. The Institute also ranked in first place among the colleges affiliated with BPUT.

Accreditations, honors, and awards are now commonly used to describe NIST Berhampur. The most recent and notable achievement on the list is the Grade 'A' accreditation given to the Institute by NAAC, which is the highest grade among all engineering institutions in Odisha, with a value of 3.22. In addition, the standard of NIST Berhampur courses is seen by its NBA accreditation for Engineering departments like Computer Science and Electronics & Communication.

NIST serves as an engineering incubator. Since 1996, it has fostered aspiring engineers and business owners. NIST provides B.Tech, M.Tech, and MCA programs. Since its founding, NIST  has maintained its position as Odisha's top engineering college. The seven  NIST Berhampur B Tech courses incorporate online learning, practical applications, and research-driven instruction from seasoned professors. The M.Tech courses in six fields emphasize excellent analytical precision, creativity, and problem-solving ability. The Institute also provides master's degrees in computer applications to encourage students to consider the practical applications of computer science. The intake capacity for the NIST Berhampur MCA is 60 students.

Under the Science discipline, NIST offers UG/PG degree courses like BSc and MSc. The science curriculum is designed to give students a basic understanding of the subject before advancing their practical and research skills. By identifying common ground and participating in numerous research initiatives, the Institute has actively promoted industry-department partnerships throughout its history. It is considered a model research organization in the eastern states of India.

The Institute collaborates on research with many premier institutes in India and worldwide.

  • NIST, the National Taiwan University, and the University of Electro-Communications Japan have inked Memorandums of Understanding for scientific partnership in semiconductor technology, nanoscience, and telecommunications.
  • NIST also participates in the MHRD Virtual Laboratory project in collaboration with IIT, Kharagpur.
  • With companies including Sankalp Semiconductors and SunMoksha, NIST Berhampur has singned MoU to cooperate on projects like nanotechnology and renewable energy.
  • Numerous research grants and projects have been awarded to the NIST by the AICTE, DST, CSIR, and other business organizations.

Numerous members of the NIST Berhampur faculty have degrees from prestigious Indian and international universities. Four BOYSCAST faculty scholars have been generated throughout the Institute, and the government of India has financed their postgraduate studies in the US and Germany. There have been three Fulbright scholars from NIST. The Government of Odisha's Samant Chandrasekhar Young Scientist Award was granted to three NIST Berhampur faculty members. Three URSI Young Scientist Awards have been given to the Institute's faculty. The Institute's professors have written roughly 24 books and more than 250 scientific articles that have been peer-reviewed.

According to NIST Berhampur's mission statement, one of its stated goals is the holistic development of students. Student organizations like the Robotics, Club Excel, Renewable Energy Club, Electronics Club, Programming Club, Club Innova,  and  Astronomy Club give extra-curricular activities a technical zing. In addition, Techno festivals, sporting events, and cultural programs keep the competitive spirit of the student body in high gear. The NIST ISTE chapter, which has earned three Best Chapter Awards, is the largest of its kind. NIST Berhampur also houses the sole IEEE ED chapter in Odisha.

NIST Berhampur Course admission

NIST Berhampur admission for all the courses is based on qualifying Common Entrance Examinations. Therefore, candidates are initially required to submit the application form, which is available online and offline To be noted, applicants must ensure the NIST Berhampur application form last date. NIST Berhampur admission procedure for PG

To be eligible for PG courses, candidates shall have completed bachelor's degree certification along with the minimum marks requirement and scores from the entrance exam.

  • NIST Berhampur MBA admission requires scores from standard entrance exams like MAT or university-conducted entrance tests. It also accepts ATMA, CAT, XAT, etc.
  • Admission to M Tech is based on GATE scores followed by cutoff criteria. In addition, applicants shall have a bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks.
  • The remaining PG course, like MSc, demands students to sit in on the entrance examination regulated by NIST.

National Institute of science and Technology admission fee is less. INR 500 is NIST admission fee.

I had persued Bsc. I want to do MCA. As I can see only BCA scholar can opt for mca. Am I eligible to take admission in 2020?

So, candidates passed in 10+2 and with graduation degree with mathematics as compulsory subject will be eligible and can seek National Institute of science and Technology admissions to MCA.
