National Institute of Technology Rourkela

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela is a deemed university funded by the government of India and was started in the year 1981. NIT Rourkela is AICTE approved and is accredited to NAAC. The university provides various courses to students in the field of Architecture, Engineering, and Management. According to their choice, students opt for the course,e and every program has its own future and opportunities. Such that students should grasp the chance or opportunity and work on it.

Placement

The training and placement department of the university is coordinated by the senior-most faculties who have many links with research and industrial organizations.

The department has a good relationship with the student placement committee, consisting of students from all the departments.

The student placement committee has nearly 26 members, of which 12 members are from B.Tech, 7 members from the dual degree, 1 from MBA, and 4 from M.Tech.

The department has greater links with national and international organization alumni who support providing placement opportunities to the students.

Hostel fee

The university campus has nearly 10 hostels, i.e., 1 for Ph.D. married students, 2 for girls, and 7 for boys, in which 2 hostels are for new joiners.

The dining hall is present within the hostel, which can accommodate more than 300 students at a time.

The hostel has a 24/7 water supply, including purified water for drinking, and has a high-speed Wi-Fi facility for the students.

The canteen has a separate set of workers for cooking who cook both veg and non-veg food for the students as per the demand at a reasonable rate.

Gym, Music room, court for indoor games, and library are present in the hostel as a recreational facility and excel academically.

Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech)

To get admissions to the university for B.Tech courses with various specializations, the candidate must have 10+2 years of education from a recognized/national board with chemistry, mathematics, and physics as one of the subjects. The students must score a good rank as per the category cut off in the entrance exams like JEE Main, which is conducted every year.

B.Tech Specializations

Master of Technology (M.Tech)

The candidates who are aspiring to join the M.Tech courses offered in this university have to clear the national level entrance exam like GATE as per the reservation cut-off. The candidate must have Bachelor’s degree in the engineering field with a 50% minimum aggregate for general and a 45% score for the reserved category.

M.Tech Specializations

B.Tech M.Tech Dual Degree

The dual degree courses are provided in the university to reduce education time and gain more knowledge in their respective field of interest. The candidates require 10+3 years of diploma or intermediate or secondary education from a national/recognized board with chemistry, physics, and mathematics knowledge. The students have to clear the entrance exam like JEE Main as per the reservation cutoff.

B.Tech M.Tech Dual Degree Specialization

Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.)

NIT provides the students with knowledge about the basic requirements in the building and construction field. The students are provided with live examples using soft wares, which help them improve their innovative thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. The candidate must have 12th standard or HSC education from a recognized/national board with mathematics as one of the subjects. To get admissions in the university, the students have to clear the national level entrance exam called NATA according to the category cutoff.

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

The management courses provided to the students in NIT improve their managerial, employability, entrepreneurship, and leadership qualities. The students are trained, so they are adjustable to the changes that occur regularly in the industrial sectors. The candidates should possess Bachelor’s degree from any stream with good percentage criteria and should score a good rank in the entrance exams like GMAT, CAT, and XAT as per the reservation cutoff.

Master of Science (M.Sc.)

The candidate must have B.Sc. or relevant graduate degree from the science field with 45% marks for general and 40%marks for the reserved category. The students have to score a good rank in the common entrance test, and based on the merit list, Institute will call them for counseling. After counseling, the students have to attend the personal interview, and seats are allotted according to their fields of interest.
