IIT Jammu - Ranking, Admissions 2026, Placements

The "Institutes of Technology Act" authorized the establishment of the Indian Institute of Technology Jammu, a third-generation IIT. It came into existence in 2016. Initially, Jammu's IIT establishment was done under IIT Delhi's mentorship. IIT Jammu was administered from a temporary campus for the first two years. Later in 2018, IIT Jammu shifted to its permanent campus in Jagti Village, Nagrota. IIT Jammu Campus is well connected to Jammu City and is located on National Highway 44 (Srinagar-Kanyakumari Highway). The BTech and MTech students can use Phase 1A of the main campus in its entirety. Phases 1 B and 1 C are currently under construction. A high-end research center for Ph.D. research scholars is also being built on the Paloura site. Both campuses are connected to Jammu and have modern amenities.

The IIT Jammu B.Tech. is a flagship program available in six specialties. The JEE Advanced exam, followed by the JoSAA counseling process, determines admission to the four-year B. Tech degree. Fees for B Tech at IIT Jammu are INR 1.25 Lakhs per academic year. IIT Jammu offers an M.Tech degree in seven streams. IIT Jammu Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning courses are available for working professionals under the Executive M Tech. The duration of the Ex-M Tech is two years, divided into four semesters. The classes will be held on weekends via online mode. Working professionals with BE/B Tech degrees in any branch or MCA/MSc degree holders can apply for the IIT Jammu Executive M Tech. In addition, IITJ offers admission to the two-year MBA degree in Hospital Administration & Health Care Management. Students with UG degrees with valid CAT scores can apply for the IIT Jammu MBA.

Both IIT Jammu and IIM Jammu have collaborated to offer a dual degree course, B Tech+MBA, as per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. After completing all 8 semesters, BTech students of IIT Jammu can opt for the IIM Jammu MBA without taking the CAT. The IIT Jammu dual-degree program would take 4+2 years to complete, and graduates will receive a B.Tech. and an MBA degree from both IIT and IIM Jammu.

B. Tech, B. Tech-MBA, MTech, Executive M Tech (Online), and Ph.D. programs are now available at the Institute. Six specialties are available in the 4-year B. Tech degree at the UG level. IIT Jammu Admission

BTech, MTech, and Ph.D. programs are available at IIT Jammu in several specializations. A candidate's performance on the qualifying exam determines whether they are admitted to these programs. In the selection procedure for MTech, candidates with a BTech degree from an IIT and a minimum CPI/CGPA of 8.0 are given special consideration.

Candidates must have a minimum of 75% in their 10+2 grade from an accredited board of education to be admitted to the IIT Jammu BTech program. The annual intake for the B Tech in IIT Jammu is 240. About 20% of these seats are set aside for the dual-degree IIT Jammu BTech+MBA. The JEE Advanced rank + JoSAA counseling is the admissions procedure for B Tech. To appear for JEE Advanced, applicants must satisfy the JEE Main score with a minimum score equivalent to the cutoff criteria. In addition, students must satisfy the IIT Jammu JEE Advanced Cut-off.

IIT Jammu MTech Admission

IIT Jammu MTech is available in six distinct specialties. IIT Jammu MTech fee is INR 1.39 Lakhs for the two years. GATE entry scores determine who gets into the program. The COAP counseling procedure is used to determine the final seat allocation. Candidates must have a GATE score between 340 and 770 to be admitted. To be noted, IIT Jammu GATE cut-off scores will vary for each category. Applicants must make sure of the cutoff criteria before applying for admission. M Tech CSE Branch is popular among all the other branches. Over the years, the demand for CSE seats has remained high. IIT Jammu M Tech CSE Cut off is 560 for the General Category.

IIT Jammu B Tech+ MBA Admission

An IIT Jammu dual degree program (BTech + MBA) is offered in partnership with IIM Jammu. The program lasts six years in total. According to the National Education Policy 2020, Ministry of Education, Government of India, the program has been purposefully structured to allow students to enroll in MBA without a CAT Score after their B Tech graduation.

• Admission to the IIT Jammu integrated dual degree program will be determined by JEE (Advanced).
• A minimum CGPA of 7 would be necessary to continue the MBA program without taking the CAT.
• At the end of their 8^th semester, candidates with a CGPA of less than 7 Grade will not be able to pursue an MBA degree further. Such candidates must take the CAT Exam to enroll in an MBA for two years.

IIT Jammu MBA Admission

IIT Jammu MBA in Hospital Administration & Health Care Management is offered in association with AIIMS Jammu and IIM Jammu. At first, applicants will be shortlisted for the PI round based on CAT results. The students need to satisfy the IIT Jammu MBA CAT cut-off. The annual intake for the MBA is 60 seats.

The following steps make up IIM Jammu's admissions procedure: taking the CAT exam, selecting applicants for personal interviews (PI); and creating a merit list based on the CAT, PI, and profile scores.

There are two categories for Ph.D. admission at IIT Jammu: full-time Institute Research Candidates and full-time Externally Funded Students (UGC, CSIR, GPAT, etc.).

• Candidates for admission to IIT Jammu Ph.D. in humanities and social sciences should have a valid UGC NET score.
• The CSIR/UGC NET/GATE/DST INSPIRE/NBHM qualification is required for enrollment in a Ph.D. program in Chemistry, Maths, Physics, or HSS.
• GATE certification is preferable for MTech degree holders in the engineering discipline.
• The interview and the applicant's research proposal will be used to evaluate the shortlisted individuals further.
• The IIT Jammu Ph.D. program accepts candidates' applications all year, but each department only shortlists and selects candidates twice a year.

IIM Jammu B Tech Placements

During the B Tech Placement 2025 Drive, IIM Jammu CSE and Electrical Branch placement rates were the highest among all other branches. IIM Jammu CSE Average Package offered INR 21 LPA.
