SSM College of Engineering is a reputed and well-known institute that is successfully offering technical and management education in Tamil Nadu. SSM came into existence in 1998 has gained affiliation from Anna University and also gained recognition from UGC.

UG Programs:

B.E & B.Tech Admission procedure and Specialization

SSM College of Engineering offers many specializations under B.E and B.Tech, which are undergraduate-level programs. All the students who desire to take admission for B.E and B.Tech courses have to have minimum eligibility.

For Admission in UG programs, candidates should have minimum criteria.

  • 10+2/HSC should be passed with Physics, mathematics, and chemistry as subjects and a minimum 50% aggregate or percentage.
  • Students should have appeared for the TNEA entrance exam, a state-level entrance exam for Tamil Nadu.
  • Students have to undergo counseling after the exam during the mentioned counseling dates, and seats in the colleges will be allotted in the counseling based on the student's rank or mark obtained and according to the college priorities students have opted for.

Key Points to know

  • 10% relaxation is given to reserved category candidates in the eligibility criteria. The relaxation might be in marks or cut-off from the actual marks.
  • Students of Tamil Nadu must produce the caste or community certificate to be considered for claiming benefits.
  • Students from other states also can claim benefits if they belong to OC.

M.Tech/M.E, MCA & MBA admissions procedure, Eligibility, and Specializations

SSM College of Engineering offers various specializations under M.Tech/M.E and MCA & MBA, a post-graduate level. Candidates seeking admission for M.Tech/M.E must have minimum eligibility and should have appeared for the applicable entrance exam for each PG course.

For Admission in PG programs, candidates should have minimum criteria.

  • To seek admission for PG programs, one must have Bachelor's degree or B.E/B.Tech with 50% as minimum aggregate in the relevant stream of education.
  • For admission to M.Tech, candidates must have a valid GATE/TANCET score through which the TANCA counseling is done where the allotment of colleges is done according to the rank obtained by students.
  • For admissions in MBA and MCA, one must have a valid TANCET score and basic qualifying marks in bachelor's degree.

Key Points to know

Reserved category students should have 455 as their minimum aggregate for admission in all Post graduate-level courses.

Candidates seeking admission for M.E should necessarily appear for GATE. If not, it's mandatory to appear for TANCET and take up TANCA counseling.

Candidates who have pursued B.E or B.Tech from distance Mode are not eligible for admissions.

Application Process:

SSM College of Engineering accepts PG and UG admissions through TNEA and TANCET exam and counseling held at the state level by Anna University. This is a process where the admissions process is carried out along with admissions. For UG, it is TNEA, and for PG, it is TANCET, and so candidates seeking admission should apply for all these exams.

Students seeking admission for either TNEA or TANCET may visit the official website of Anna University and fill the application form online. The application fee can be paid online by the payment modes mentioned.

Candidates should send the printout of the entire application form and the copy to Anna University in the Director's name.

Counseling process

Students should visit the counseling location with the letter of counseling on the allocated dates with all the documents required and a DD of INR 5000.

They will meet with the supervisor who will guide and allot colleges according to student's preferences, and students should submit the demand draft.

Later on, candidates can report to the allotted colleges for further admission process.

The selection of candidates for the B-Tech program at SSMCET is based on academic Merit, followed by a state entrance exam called JKCET with valid scores.
