To deliver education in several fields using the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode, the University founded the Directorate of Distance Education in 1976. It offers distance education programs at UG and PG levels in arts, science, commerce, and other streams. It is a constituent part of this University and is recognized by the University Grants Commission. The main campus of the University is spread over 247 acres. It has a great scenic set-up and is surrounded by the world-famous Dal Lake and Nigeen Lake on its eastern side.
Kashmir University Distance Education Centre is in a multi-story structure with a well-stocked library, first-rate student support services, an audio-visual lab, a conference room, tastefully decorated classrooms, and a computer lab with the most recent Information and Information Communication Technology (ICT) amenities.

University of Kashmir Directorate of Distance Education Admission
The University offers a range of courses and has been recognized by the UGC and Distance Education Bureau. It also provides a 'Students aid Fund' to those who come from low-income families, but it is awarded based on merit. Kashmir University Distance Education Admission is based on performance on academic merit. Every year, the admission process is carried out in June and July. No course has an age restriction for enrollment. Candidates must apply online because there is no other way to make admissions than online.
The University of Kashmir Distance B.Ed Course
- With a total enrollment capacity of 3600, the University offers two-year B.Ed courses via distance learning. Candidates are chosen based on merit.
- Candidates for such courses must have completed their graduation requirements.
- Candidates must have earned 45% (or 40% for candidates in the Reserved Category) on their Bachelor's degree, which must have been completed in at least three years and any discipline.
- The evaluation approach is centralized, but for ongoing evaluation, the Directorate is given authority to administer internal assessment tests, typically held following the contact program's conclusion and accounting for 20% of the course marks.

Kashmir University Distance Education PG Admission
The MA, MSc, MAUR, M.Com, MAIS, and M.Ed programs of Kashmir University are all two-year PG programs.
- All PG programs have a 200-applicant limit. However, MAUR has a 700-applicant limit.
- A bachelor's degree is the basic eligibility criteria for admission to PG courses.
- Candidates seeking admission to the M.Ed Distance Education Kashmir University must have completed their B.Ed.
- Any Master's program has a two-year duration and consists of four semesters with a total weight of 96 credits.
- The Directorate is given authority to administer internal assessment tests, typically held following the contact program's conclusion and accounting for 20% of the course marks.

PG Diploma Courses Admission at Kashmir University Distance Education
- Graduation in the 10+2+3 pattern with a minimum grade point average of 40%, except PGDCA, where the cutoff is 50% for the Open Category and 45% for the RBA.

Rules & Regulations of the Admission Process

- Except for MA Urdu, all courses are instructed in English.
- The only way to apply for admission is online; no offline forms are accepted.
- A candidate's admission may be revoked at any time without giving a reason if it is discovered or brought to the University's attention that they provided false or inaccurate information when applying for admission, used dishonest tactics, or did not meet the eligibility requirements.

- Candidates who do not report for admission by the day and time specified in the selection notification forfeit their admission, and the next qualified applicant will be offered admission.

- Candidates are not permitted to take the final exam if they do not take the internal assessment tests.

- Library - The Directorate of Distance Education has a comprehensive library with more than 65,000 books (text and reference books) on topics relating to its courses.
- Computer labs - For programs like PGDWD and PGDCA, as well as other related courses for various programs, this Directorate has a very good computer lab with about 40 machines.
- WiFi - The Directorate has high-speed Internet connectivity and is completely networked. DDE also offers complete WiFi coverage.
