UPSC Combined Defence Services [UPSC CDS]
UPSC or United Public Service Commission had its location in New Delhi in India. The commission is owned and controlled by the Government of India. It is the responsibility of UPSC for arranging the examination and interviews for the recruitment of employees and promotion of existing employees. UPSC makes it possible for filling the different vacancy posts and providing deserving and suitable candidates to different departments in Government services.
UPSC CDS is recognized to be a written examination that is conducted twice every year by UPSC. The examination is conducted every year for the selection of officers for Navy, Army, and Air Force. Both women and men can apply for CDS. The best thing about this examination is that there is no age bar for the same. Men are eligible for applying for Army, Navy and Airforce. Women, on the other hand, are eligible for applying for Army. In this year, the examination will be conducted on November 2024. Candidates who are waiting for the opening of application form will be notified on the official website of the authority.
The question paper for UPSC CDS will comprise of objective type of questions primarily. Candidates require answering the questions without the use of a calculator. The question paper will comprise of questions from the subjects of General Knowledge, English, Elementary Mathematics, etc. Candidates are allowed to complete each section in the examination within duration of 2hours.
Candidates need to apply for CDS 2024 in the official website of the authority. Candidates need to fulfill the eligibility norms that are set by the authority for appearing in the examination. Candidates need to be careful while going through the eligibility criteria as failure to meet the criteria may result in the disqualification of the candidate at a later off stage.
UPSC CDS 2024 Exam Date
Official notification for UPSC CDS will be declared on August 2024. The deadline for the received of application forms is September 2023. The admit card will be downloaded from September to October 2024. The examination will be conducted on November 2024. There is still no official update about the publication of the result.
UPSC CDS 2024 Eligibility criteria
Candidates need to ensure that they are filling the application form for appearing in the examination. For Indian Military Academy and Officers, candidates need to have a degree from a recognized university. For Indian Naval Academy, candidates should have a degree in engineering from a recognized institute.
For Air Force Academy, candidates should have a bachelor degree in Engineering or a degree from a recognized university with Mathematics and Physics at 10+2 level. For OTA, male candidates who are born after 2nd July 1993 and before 1st July 1999 are eligible. For AFA, candidates who have not born before 2nd July 1994 and not after 1st July 1998 are eligible.
A candidate who holds current and valid commercial pilot license has an age relaxation of up to 26 years. Marriage is not permissible during training. For NA, unmarried male candidates who are not born before 2nd July 1994 and not after 1st July 1999 are eligible.
UPSC CDS 2024 Application Form & fees
Candidates who are willing to appear for CDS examination need to fill the application form. The application form can be filled via online mode from the official website of UPSC. No other mode of application is available. Candidates are asked to submit only one application. However, owing to some circumstances if candidates have submitted application form more than once, the application having higher RID need to be completed in all of the aspects.
Applicants need to fill different personal information such as name, roll number, date of birth, educational qualification, etc. General and OBC candidates need to pay an application fee of Rs. 200 along with the application form. Female and ST/ SC candidates do not need to pay any fee for the examination.
UPSC CDS 2024 Syllabus & Exam Pattern
The question paper for UPSC CDS comprises of multiple choice questions. The total marks allotted for each paper is 100 marks. There is negative marking for each wrong answer in the examination. There is a time allotment of 2 hours for completing each paper in the examination. For UPSC CDS examination for the military naval air force, questions are asked from General Knowledge, English and Elementary Mathematics.
On the other hand, for UPSC CDS 1 for officers training academy, questions are asked from English and General Knowledge. The UPSC CDS Exam for Elementary Maths paper is recognized to be of matriculation standard. Candidates need to check the syllabus for a better preparation of the examination. Candidates are sure to score more marks in the examination if they follow the syllabus while making the preparations for the examination.
UPSC CDS 2024 Admit Card
Candidates who have applied for the examination successfully will be issued admit card. Candidates who have submitted the application form online prior to the deadline will be able to download the admit card. The admit card can be availed from the official website of UPSC. Admit card is considered to be an integral document of the examination.
Admit card comprises of important information such as name and roll number of the candidate, time and venue of the examination, etc. Candidates need to carry the admit card on the day of examination as they will not be allowed to enter the examination.
UPSC CDS 2024 Results & Score Card
Results of CDS examination will be completed in two stages. UPSC declares the result of written examination at first. After the publication of final results, the SSC interview process will start. The results of the examination will be announced after the finishing of interview procedure.
