Maharashtra Master's in Computer Application Common Entrance Test (MAH-MCA-CET) is conducted by Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra for candidates who are seeking admission to First Year/Direct Second Year (Separate Division and Lateral Entry) of Three Year Full Time Post Graduate Degree Course in Master of Computer Application (MCA) in the Government, Govt. Aided, University Managed, University Departments and Unaided Institutes for the Academic Year 2018 in the Maharashtra State.
Candidates are eligible for MAH MCA CET 2018 examination only if they satisfy following condition given below:
- Candidate should be of 21 years or more but not exceeding 25 years of age to apply for the examination.
- Candidates must have to be passed in Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent examination from a recognized university to apply for the examination.
- Candidates must have obtained at least 50% aggregate marks or its equivalent CGPA for open category applicants (45% in case of SC/ ST/ OBC applicants) from a recognized university to apply for the examination.
- Candidates must have studied Mathematics as a subject either in their 12th or graduation level to apply for the examination.
- The candidates who are appearing for the final year graduation can also apply for the examination.
Eligibility Criteria for admission to Maharashtra State Candidates through CAP:
First Year MCA - Candidates should be an Indian National and should posses basic qualification; Appeared and qualification qualified in the Common Entrance Test MHA -MCA CET 2018
Second Year MCA for Lateral Entry/Separate Division - Candidate should be an Indian National & possess basic qualification prescribed in computer application, Computer science or Science (IT/Computer) i.e. BCA, BCS or Bachelor of Science (IT/Computer) spread and qualified in the Common Entrance Test MHA-MCA-CET 2018 ; Appeared and qualified in the Common Entrance Test MHA-MCA-CET 2018
Eligibility Criteria for Admissions to OMS Candidates:
First year MCA – Candidates should be an India National and should possess basic qualification as specified in rule no 2.1 and; Appeared and qualified in AIMCET 2018 for seeking admission to MCA; or Appeared and qualified in the MHA-MCA-CET 2018
Eligibility Criteria for admission to J&K Migrant Candidate:
Candidate should be an Indian National and should possess basic qualification as specified and appeared and qualified in the Common Entrance Test MHA-MCA-CET 2018
Eligibility Criteria for admissions against seats for NRI /Foreign National/PIO/Children of Indian workers in the Gulf countries:
Basic educational qualification as specified and appeared and qualified in AIMCET 2018 or; Appeared and qualified in the Common Entrance test MHA-MCA-CET 2018 or; any other equivalent entrance examination conducted for the academic year 2018
MHA MCA CET Eligibility Criteria for Minority/Institute Level seats:
First Year MCA
Candidate should be an Indian National and should possess basic qualification as specified and; Appeared and qualified in the Common Entrance Test MHA-MCA-CET 2018 (OR) Appeared and qualified in the MHA-MCA-CET 2018 (OR) Any other equivalent entrance exam conducted for the academic year 2018
The Examination pattern is given below:-
- The exam paper will consist of multiple choice objective type questions.
- The time for the test shall be about 90 minutes.
- The language of paper shall be in English only.
- Candidate will get 4 marks for every right answer and 1 mark will be reduced for every wrong answer.
- The total marks for the examination will be 200.

The questions in this paper will cover: logical reasoning, quantitative reasoning, high school
mathematics, vocabulary, English comprehension and verbal ability. The following syllabus is given below:-
Algebra : Fundamental operations in Algebra, Expansion, factorization, Quadratic equations, indices, logarithms, arithmetic, geometric and harmonic progressions, binomial theorem, permutations and combinations.
Co-ordinate Geometry : Rectangular Cartesian co-ordinates, equations of a line, midpoint, intersections etc., equations of a circle, distance formulae, pair of straight lines, parabola, ellipse and hyperbola, simple geometric transformations such as translation, rotation, scaling.
Differential Equations: Differential equations of first order and their solutions, linear differential 1 equations with constant coefficients, homogenous linear differential equations.
Trigonometry: Simple identities, trigonometric equations, properties of triangles, solution of triangles, height and distance, inverse function.
Probability and Statistics : Basic concepts of probability theory, Averages, Dependent and independent events, frequency distributions, and measures of dispersions, skewness and kurtosis, random variable and distribution functions, mathematical expectations, Binomial, Poisson, normal distributions, curve fitting, and principle of least squares, correlation and regression. Arithmetic: Ratios and proportions, problems on time-work, distance-speed, percentage, etc.
Basic Set Theory and Functions: Set, relations and mappings.
Mensuration: areas, triangles and quadrilaterals, area and circumference of circles,
volumes and surface areas of simple solids such as cubes, spheres, cylinders and cones.
Computer Concepts Syllabus
Computer Basics : Organization of a computer, Central Processing Unit (CPU), Structure of instructions in CPU, input / output devices, computer memory, memory organization, back-up devices.
Data Representation : Representation of characters, integers, and fractions, binary and hexadecimal representations, Binary Arithmetic: Addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, signed arithmetic and two’s complement arithmetic, floating point representation of numbers, normalized floating point representation, Boolean algebra, truth tables, Venn diagrams.
Computer Architecture: Block structure of computers, communication between processor and I / O devices, interrupts.
Computer Language: Assembly language and high level language, Multiprogramming and time sharing operating systems, Computer Programming in C.
Operating System basics: Multiprogramming and timesharing operating systems.
The hall ticket will be available online they candidates can download the card. In the time of examination the candidates have to get their admit card along with their photo identity such as PAN Card/ Passport/ Driving License / Voter’s Card/ Bank Passbook with photograph/ Photo identity proof issued by a Gazzetted Officer on official letterhead along with photograph / Photo identity proof issued by a People’s Representative on official letterhead along with photograph / valid recent Identity Card issued by a recognized College/ University/ Aadhar card with a photograph/ Employee ID/ Bar Council Identity Card with photograph should be submitted to the invigilator for verification.
The candidate’s identity will be verified with respect to his/her details on the Hall Ticket, in the Attendance List and requisite documents submitted. If identity of the candidate is in doubt the candidate may not be allowed to appear for the Examination.
Candidates can check the results of MCA 2018 online in the website: www.dtemaharashtra.gov.in /mca 2018 .The candidates can login using their application ID and seat number. Thereafter the documents will be verified and updated and the 2018 merit list will be announced. The result will display two separate lists of eligible and not eligible candidates.
Merit list will be available only online on the official website after 5:00 PM by June 5, 2018 .
Counseling would be conducted under the guidance of Commissioner, State CET Cell, Govt. of Maharashtra. The MAH MCA CET is scheduled for March 24, 2018 counseling and seat allotment will be carried out through a Centralized Allotment Process after the declaration of MAH MCA CET Results. It would focus on choice filling by the candidates and document verification.
The candidates have to submit and confirm their seat through website from July 04, 2018 To July 07, 2018 till 5:00 PM.The Council will display the list of candidates for the provisional seat allotment on July 8, 2018 at 5:00 pm. All the selected candidates will be called in the seat allotment and successful candidates will be offered provisional admission. And for this candidates have to report on the Admission Center for booking their seat. For the First CAP round candidates have to report from July 9, 2018 to July 16, 2018 .
There will be total three rounds of Centralized Allotment. In the first two rounds of CAP, centralized allotment would be done for eligible candidates from both Maharashtra State and OMS categories. All the eligible candidates will be required to fill online option forms. The third round of CAP would be conducted only for Maharashtra State candidates. First 2 rounds of CAP will be online and last one will be offline.
All the candidates who wish to participate in CAP should mandatorily fill the Online Option form for each respective CAP Round. Candidates must remember the following points while filling the option form:
- Candidates can fill online application form after they login through their credentials on the website.
- No changes would be allowed in the Options after confirmation,
- The maximum number of options for CAP Round I and II is 100.
- Candidates are allowed to fill minimum 1 and maximum 100 options.
