Gandhi Institute for Education and Technology (GIET) was started in 2009 by the Gandhi Group of Institutions, which Dr. SP Panda founded in 1997, which is the biggest group in eastern India. The institute is affiliated to Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Rourkela, and is recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.

The institute covers 30 acres of land, having facilities like an auditorium, cafeteria, computer labs, library, laboratory, hostel, medical, sports, and gym.
The institute has various clubs like Blood Donation Camp, Robotics club, Music club, GATE Club, and Fine Arts club for the overall development of the students.
The institute provides a separate hostel facility for boys and girls and messes with a fee of INR 1.5K per month.
