Birsa Institute Of Technology (BIT Sindri), formerly known as Bihar Institute of Technology. It is a popular technical institute located in Jharkhand. It was established in 1949 and held immense importance in engineering as it was set up immediately after independence. It aims to promote industrialization in the country and provide a suitable foundation for the upcoming students. Originally the campus was in Patna and affiliated with Patna University, but in 1950 it was shifted to the permanent campus at Sindri in Dhanbad District. The institute is under the control of the Department of science & technology, Government Of Jharkhand, Ranchi. Currently, BIT Sindri's affiliation is with the Jharkand University of Technology. The primary mission is to cater to technological needs with a proper educational setup.

BIT Sindri offers UG and PG courses in engineering streams such as BTech and M.Tech. In addition, Ph.D. is available. The best branch in BIT Sindri is Mechanical and Electrical Engineering because BIT is well known for its core engineering streams. Many candidates from these departments clear the coveted Indian engineering service exam UPSC holds.

BIT Sindri admission is strictly based on the merit rank in entrance exams. For BIT Sindri admission BTech, the eligibility is a minimum of 45% in 10+2 from the science stream with a proper JCECE merit rank. BIT Sindri engineering fees INR 20k for the 1^st year. From the academic year 2019-20, students can get into BIT Sindri admission through JEE Main.

JCECE is a state-level entrance examination conducted by the JCECE board. It is an online examination whose notification comes out in the 1^st week of April, and registration opens from the 4^th week. The counseling for the program starts in the first week of July. The test has its set eligibility criterion regarding age & subjects. The paper is open only to the people residing in Jharkhand. The exam contains 200 questions for the PCMB group while 150 for the PCM/PCB group. For every incorrect answer, you have ¼ deduction as negative marking.

Students must have completed graduation with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent CGPA to be eligible for admission to the M Tech in BIT Sindri. The process is then followed by a GATE merit rank and personal interview. In the case of research, post-graduation is a mandatory requirement, along with a GATE merit rank.

BIT Sindri BTech cse cutoff is 766, while mechanical is 1377. The lowest cutoff is experienced for stream production engineering, which is 1583. The total seat intake for B.tech is 680. The highest number of seats is in chemical engineering, followed up by civil and electrical engineering. There is no provision for BIT Sindri direct admission. 100% of seats will be filled according to norms of JCECEB, Jharkhand Govt.

BIT Sindri's campus is situated near the bank of the Damodar river. The residential campus provides all amenities for students & teachers. There are 27 hostels with a sports ground and transport facilities. The cultural life at BIT Sindri is also quite exciting as there are many clubs like Hackathon & coding club, art club, Gandhi Rachnatmak society, BIT cultural society, photography club, Rotaract club, and many more. These opportunities have given students a medium to focus on overall personality development.

The active participation of the institute in digital initiatives like swayam & nptel is appreciable. The institute undertakes CSR activities under PRAYAS INDIA, which emphasizes providing free education to slum children. 4 centers have catered to more than 900 candidates up till now. Three different awards are provided in this category: Toppers award, BITSAA Bermo chapter scholarship offering Rs. 10000 to two students belonging to economically weaker sections of society, and Ashrafi Singh & Ramsakhi Devi Scholarships to one male & female EWS student.
