Ranchi University, a government college in Jharkhand, India, began in July 1960 with a mission to provide quality education to many from tribal areas. It aims to support youngsters with limited opportunities. At first, there were ten PG departments, one constituent college, and 20 colleges connected to it. But now it has 22 PG departments, 19 colleges that are part of it, and 47 colleges that are affiliated with it. At present, It serves education for almost 160,000 students. Ranchi University-affiliated colleges are being recognized as "Colleges with Potential for Excellence" (CPE). Some even received an NAAC rating.

The University has made progress in Technology. The central library has automation. It has many books and facilities for copying. The Ranchi University Courses are in medicine, nursing, arts, science, engineering, commerce, and liberal arts. For admission to Ranchi University, you need good grades and to pass an entrance exam.

The University has facilities for teaching and research in tribal and regional languages. It also helps tribal students. It arranges special classes for ST, SC, and minority students.
