B.Ed. Admissions 2021: Application Process, Eligibility Criteria, Selection Process, List of Top Priority B.Ed. Colleges

Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) is a 2 year UG program to impart skills for the candidates who are aspiring to become Teachers and take up that as their profession. B.Ed. is the basic requirement needed for any candidate to find job in the teaching profession. There are lakhs of desiring candidates who take up this course in every academic year. The entrance exam that needs to be cleared various from state to another state. It also depends on certain private colleges which might possess their own entrance exam for the course. The eligibility criteria depend upon the merit score secured by the candidate in their board exams and should have completed their Bachelor’s degree. B.Ed. course has various combinations of subjects where the candidates can choose and learn from. Here, The National Council of Educational Research and Training widely known as NCERT conducts RIE CEE i.e. the Regional Institute of Education Common Entrance Examination for centralized online admission for B.Ed. UG course. The admission for this course varies depending on state-wise approach.

B.Ed.  Admission Eligibility Criteria

  • Talking about eligibility criteria for B.Ed. the candidate should have a bachelor’s degree from any recognized institute with a minimum aggregate of 50% in all subjects in their degree.
  • The eligibility criteria for admissions in B.Ed. are set according to the standard rules given out by NCTE. The candidates who have completed B.Tech with minimum aggregate of 55% can also apply for this course and the appropriate age to join this course is minimum 19 years.
  • The candidate can also check the state wise eligibility standard so as to know which entrance exam they have to apply for.
  • Some of the well-known entrance exams for B.Ed. are- IPU CET/ BHU UET/ AP EDCET/ HPU B.Ed. / CUCET/ IGNOU B.Ed.

B.Ed. Application Process

The application process for B.Ed. admissions is applicable in both online and offline mode and on the basis of entrance exam and merit list.

  • Candidates willing to get admissions for B.Ed. through entrance exam needs to fill in the application form for the concerned exam after checking with the respective state and also the institute. Firstly, the candidate should visit the official web portal and do the registration process. No candidate can skip this step as candidates must take up the entrance exam and secure minimum qualifying marks, if not there is no guarantee for their admissions in B.Ed.
  • Likewise, the candidates can apply for admissions through merit list as well depending upon the state viability. Such candidates can fill in applications through online mode as suggested by the concerned authority. When the candidate fills the application form he/she should also upload their photograph and other valid documents as asked in the form. The process will end by paying application fees as to take part in the admission process of B.Ed. by the candidate.

B.Ed. Admission Process

  • The B.Ed. admission process keeps varying from state to state and college to college. Some institutes take admissions on the basis of entrance exam on the state level and select only those candidates who clear the cut-off margin of the exam. Then the procedure will be continued with counseling process and alter allot seats for the same.  
  • On the other hand few private colleges/ institutes conduct their own entrance exam and PI along with written exam to secure seats in those colleges. 
  • Also, few admissions also happen depending upon the merit list announced by the national authority. The institutes choose candidates who have secured the merit list marks and who have properly completed the application process. Some of the sates like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and so on have merit-based admissions for B.Ed. course.
