Barkatullah University originally also known as Bhopal University was established in the year 1970 under the sponsorship of the state government in the Indian state, Madhya Pradesh. The university is been accredited with ‘B’ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and recognized by University Grants Commission.
Few of the notable alumni’s of Barkatullah University are Hassan Sheikh Mohamud: former President of Somalia, Pamposh Bhat: environmentalist and recipient of the Rajbhasha Award for Poetry, Rahat Indori: poet and Bollywood lyricist and Shivraj Singh Chouhan: chief minister of Madhya Pradesh.
Barkatullah University enables students to organize various events and fests with an intention of providing a podium for the students to reveal their talents. The institute has also maintained a sports stadium to encourage the students in the field of sports.
