On March 3, 1976, the University of Jammu established the Directorate of Distance Education (previously known as the Institute of Correspondence Education). Within seven years of its founding, the University of Jammu became a dual-mode University from a conventional one. NAAC accredits the university with an “A” Grade.

The University of Jammu distance education department is located on the new campus of Jammu University. DDE Jammu University offers UG, PG, and Diploma courses to cater to the needs of distance learners. In the year of its establishment, there were 100 students. But now, the student enrollment has risen to 12000. Furthermore, it comprises 11 permanent faculty members with experience in distance education teaching. They also use the services of contractual and visiting faculty.

Jammu University Distance Courses include BA, B Com, M Com, MA, and PGDBM. In addition, a B.Ed is also available. Distance Department Jammu University follows a multimedia approach to teaching. The latest and updated self-learning materials will be imparted to the learners. DDE has adequate infrastructure for offering personal contact courses and counseling sessions. Distance Education Courses at Jammu University

Under UG, BA and B.Com distance courses are offered. Under PG distance education, Jammu University MA and M Com courses are available. Jammu University Distance Education MA is available in Urdu, English, Hindi, Sociology, Economics, Dogri, and Political Science. In addition, a professional degree PGDBM (Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management) is offered. Students are also eligible to enroll in distance B.Ed at Jammu University.

Distance Education Jammu University Admission

Students willing to apply for DDE Jammu University Admission must fill out the eligibility requirements defined by the university. Further candidates must apply online, and the university will review the applications and select the students based on their qualifications.

  • Candidates shall have passed their intermediate to be eligible for Jammu University Distance Education BA Admission. They shall have obtained a minimum 45% aggregate in 10+2.
  • Candidates who have passed the 10+2 examination from the J&K Board of School Education or any other recognized board besides the commerce stream can apply for the Distance B Com course. They shall have obtained not less than 45% marks in the aggregate.
  • Students wishing to apply for Jammu University PG Distance Admission must hold a bachelor’s degree in the concerned disciplines.
  • MA Distance Admission in Jammu University is based on the student’s performance in their qualified Bachelor’s degree BA or equivalent. They must score a minimum of 60% aggregate marks at the UG level.
  • Students seeking admission to the M.Com must have completed their UG degree B Com with at least 60% marks.
  • Aspirants seeking B.Ed Distance Admission at Jammu University shall have completed their Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with at least 50% aggregate marks.
