The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT-G) is a leading engineering college in India that has retained its place in the NIRF Ranking List. IIT Guwahati JEE Advanced cutoff 2025 determines the futures of thousands of students who want to become engineers. The opening and closing ranks at IIT Guwahati have been gradually rising in the past several years, and various programs are available at the institute.
The IIT Guwahati CSE Branch always secures the highest cutoff marks across the year. The opening ranks for this branch have generally been published within the first 1000-2000 ranks of the general category, only stressing the factor that there is stiff competition for these seats.
Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering, which are also top branches of IIT Guwahati, have also kept up with the cutoff standards. These programs generally start opening ranks in the range mentioned above of 2000-4000 for the general category students.
The reliability in such IIT Guwahati JEE Advanced cutoff over the years shows that these fundamental branches of engineering are in demand. These cutoffs depend on the total intake capacity in a particular year, the competition level that candidates have shown in the JEE Advanced examination and the standard of students who apply for admission. Also, the split of the seats and the past years’ admission patterns are some of the key factors in defining these cutoffs for every category.
IIT Guwahati Civil JEE Advanced Cutoff 2025 for the different categories are shown below. The general category again had the highest opening and closing ranks, 7921 and 9021, respectively. As observed, the closing ranks for all the categories examined were lower for female candidates than for male candidates, which shows a bias in favour of female candidates.

Below are the ranks for the EEE programme at IIT Guwahati for 2025. The cutoff ranks were different in each category and gender. As can be observed from the evaluation of the various category cutoff ranks, they were more general than the specific ones. IIT Guwahati Cutoff SC is between 573 and 656.
The candidates belonging to the female gender for all quotas had lower cutoff ranks, yet this revealed a gender bias toward women from certain categories. Also, cutoff ranks for candidates belonging to Persons with Disabilities (PwD) were relatively lower than those of other candidates as a sign of affirmative action.

The opening and closing ranks for the Mathematics and Computing program at IIT Guwahati in 2025: These cutoff ranks were found to be relatively higher in the general category than in the IIT Guwahati JEE Advanced Cutoff for OBC categories. The generically placed category has many more people qualifying for any specific course than the specifically placed category. Women candidates for the seats declined due to lower cutoff ranks, especially the candidates from the reserved categories.

The following table presents the trends in the qualifying JEE Cutoff of the General Category of IIT Guwahati for the last three years, including 2023, 2024, and 2025. In general, there have been some minor changes in the cutoff ranks in past years. But one can clearly note that time-tested favourite courses like Computer Science & Engineering have relatively higher cut–off ranks for admissions than the others. Also, the ranks up to which female candidates have been admitted, especially those in the reserved category, show that affirmative action has been employed.
