The NIT Rourkela MTech admission 2026 process has become more exciting. NIT Rourkela has introduced new MTech courses. This will start from the 2026–27 academic session. The institute has launched two specialised programs - NIT Rourkela Semiconductor Devices and Technology and NIT Rourkela Machine Learning and Signal Analysis. These courses are designed to prepare for modern industry requirements. The first program is MTech Semiconductor Devices and Technology. It has an intake capacity of 15 seats. This course focuses on important semiconductor related subjects. In this course, you will learn device characterization, packaging technologies, wafer technology, integrated circuits, fabrication, and many more. The program provides you with a practical understanding and lab learning. It will make you all-rounder in semiconductor engineering.
The second program is MTech in Machine Learning and Signal Analysis. The college is currently offering 12 seats. This course covers several topics. You will be taught speech processing. You will also learn image processing, and deep learning. As industries are adopting AI and automation, this program will help you develop in-demand skills.
Both programs are designed with an industry focused approach. You will receive practical exposure through lab sessions. The college aims to train you according to recent market demands.
Admission to these courses will be done through the CCMT 2026 counselling process. If you have a valid GATE exam 2026, then you will be eligible to apply for admission. The CCMT is responsible for managing admissions.
Currently, NIT CCMT 2026 registration is ongoing. You need to register before June 5. All the students interested in these new courses will have to complete the registration process before the deadline.
After the counselling process, the selection process includes the GD and PI rounds. The selection process will help the college identify students with industry potential.
If you’re applying for NIT Rourkela MTech courses, you have to meet the eligibility criteria. You should have completed a BTech degree from a recognised Institute.
For general category students, the minimum marks are 60%. For reserved category students, the minimum requirement is 55% marks.
