Coimbatore Institute of Technology was started in 1956 as an autonomous public institute. Anna University of Chennai affiliates CIT with NBA and AICTE approvals. In the 2021 NIRF Rankings, CIT secured the 102nd  position for B Tech Category and 151st for Overall Performance. Coimbatore Institute has been consistently ranked among the Top 20 Engineering Colleges in Tamilnadu State for the last five years. CIT offers courses like B-Tech, M-Tech, MCA, and B.Sc., which come under the streams like Engineering, Management, Science, and Computer Applications.

  • B Tech program in CIT is offered in nine various specializations. The minimum required percentage for B-Tech admissions in CIT is 50% in 10+2 Science Streams. They shall have studied PCM as the main subject.
  • Candidates who wish to apply for Coimbatore Institute B Tech admission must undergo TNEA Counselling.
  • Candidates must register online for TNEA based on 10+2 results as a primary step to participate in the counseling session.
  • Once the TNEA online registration concludes, Anna University will publish the TNEA Merit List. This merit list determines students’ eligibility for the option filling & seat allotment process.
  • Those students who satisfy the Coimbatore Institute TNEA Cut off requirement will be able to prefer the college during the option filling round.
  • Later, the authority will consider students’ TNEA rank and preferences to allocate the seats.
