Admission for B Tech in Punjab: Eligibility, Application Process, Counselling & Seat Allotment

In Punjab, B Tech admissions will be granted based on the candidate's score acquired in JEE Main Entrance Exam. Punjab is situated in the northern part of India. Eligibility Criteria for B Tech Admission in Punjab

Academic Qualification: Applicants who are willing to apply for B Tech admission in Punjab should meet the authority's eligibility criteria. Candidates who have qualified in the 10+2 examination with a minimum of 45% to 50% aggregate marks are eligible to apply. As per the norms of government norms, 5% of relaxation in aggregate marks will be permitted for the candidates who belong to the reserved category. Domicile Rules: In Punjab engineering colleges, 85% of seats are reserved for State Quota B Tech admission, and it is applicable only for the Punjab domicile/Resident candidates. B Tech Admission Process in Punjab

I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University organizes CAP (Centralized admission process) to grant admission for B Tech in Punjab. Candidates who have qualified in JEE Main entrance exam score are eligible to apply for B Tech admission under state quota in Punjab. There will be a specific cut of the rank (opening & closing rank) under state quota admission in all the B Tech colleges in Punjab. Payment of Counselling fees: To take part in the CAP Counselling session, firstly, candidates need to pay the counseling registration fees, which charges approximate INR 2000 and it must be paid via online mode

• At first, candidates must visit the respective portal, then click on “Pay online counseling fees.”
• Then the registration form will display on the screen; candidates need to select (Engineering B Tech-JEE Main Basis)
• Candidates must enter JEE Main Roll Number and enter personal details and contact details. After filling it up, click on submit option.
• Candidates will receive OTP (one-time password) for their registered mobile number. Then enter the OTP and click on proceed option.
• Then the page will redirect to the Counselling fee payment portal. Candidates are required to pay the stipulated counseling fees via online mode.
• Upon successful payment, candidates will receive a confirmation message for the mobile number or registered mail ID. Such that candidates are required to take the printout of the fee receipt.

Online registration: Candidates who have successfully paid the counseling process fees for CAP are eligible for the registration process. Check out the following steps to register online.

• Candidates are required to visit the respective website and click on the available link “Apply for B Tech.”
• Then, the candidate chooses the stream, click on “New Registration,” and then the new registration form will display on the screen.
• Enter all the relevant details like academic information and other relevant information to complete the registration process
• Upon Successful registration, login credentials will be generated. Using those login credentials, the candidate must take the registration form's printout must keep it with candidates for further reference.

Online Choice filling: Candidates must click on student login and sign up using the registration process's credentials. The list of B Tech colleges will display on the screen. Candidates are advised to check out the specific institute's opening & closing ranks before filling up the option entry form choices. Candidates can select a maximum number of choices according to their order of preferences. After filling it up, click on the save option.

Seat Allotment Process for B Tech Admission in Punjab

The seat allotment process will be done based on the candidate's rank in JEE Main, the seats' availability, and the candidate’s choice of preference. The seat allotment results will be declared on the official website. Candidates must log in for the portal and must Download the admit card, and take the printout. If the candidates do not get seats in the first round, they need to wait for the second-round announcement. Candidates can also upgrade the seat in the first round if they are not satisfied.

After taking the allotment letter's printout, candidates must report to the allotted institute with original educational certificates and xerox copies for the document verification purpose.
