Karnataka Management Aptitude Test (KMAT) is a state-level management entrance examination conducted by Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges Association (KPPGCA), especially to get admissions for MBA, PGDM, and MCA programs. The admission possibilities for candidates taking up KMAT are for postgraduate management courses.  KMAT is an all India exam conducted in more than 10+ cities in Bangalore and other Karnataka state institutions located across the country.

KMAT is a Common Entrance Exam conducted by the Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges Association (KPPGCA) for around 169+ AICTE-approved University-affiliated B-school Institutes in Bangalore and other places of Karnataka. This applies to all candidates from all parts of India who meet the eligibility criteria can appear for this test across the country. The accessible process for KMAT is easy and affordable with the sharing of exam scores with selected B-schools of your choice/scores.

KMAT 2021 Eligibility criteria

Entry requirements into professional courses like MBA/ PGDM/MCA in Karnataka are followed as per the UGC guidelines.

MBA/PGDM
Bachelors degree with minimum 3 years duration/ Masters degree examination of any recognized education body in Commerce, Management, Arts, Social Sciences, Engineering/ Technology or equivalent, and have secured at least 50% of marks in the aggregate (45% for SC/ST candidate). Candidates in their final year of bachelor’s degree are also eligible.

MCA
Bachelor's degree with 50% marks. Candidates should have studied Maths at 10+2 stage or graduation level.

  • The application form will be released from the last week of May 2021, and candidates should make sure that they are registered on time for taking up the entrance test.
  • For KMAT 2021, the last date tentatively announced for application submission with a fine is till the second week of July 2021.
  • Once the registration is done, the candidate will receive an individual ID and password that he/she can change later according to their wish. This detail should be managed carefully and used further while filling the application and later receiving its confirmation.
  • Once the details are filled in, the candidate must upload a scanned image of the photograph & signature in the prescribed digital format. The applicant should be careful about the file's size because many times, the website won’t accept huge sized files.
  • It is mandatory that the applicant has to provide a valid/ working email ID & contact details in the application form; if not, the application will not be accepted.
  • There is no need for the candidate to send any hard copy of the application form for further use, but it is suggested to have a soft copy for future reference.
  • Lastly, the applicant has to pay application fees, and that can be done online via credit card, debit card, or net banking. The application fees will be INR  800/- for all applicants' categories.
  • Later, the preview and changes, if any to make, can be done, and once candidates click on the ‘Confirm and Final Submit’ button, there won’t be any chances to make any changes.
  • All applicants are suggested to check their given information for any mistakes thoroughly.

KMAT 2021 Eligibility criteria

Candidates preparing to appear for KMAT 2021 should be well-aware of the authorities who have made some important considerations in their eligibility criteria. Understanding the prescribed criteria will help the aspiring candidates to know if they are well qualified or have the capacity to appear for the exam before filling the online application form. Eligibility criteria for MBA/ PGDM Course:

Educational Qualification: Candidates must be qualified for having a bachelor’s degree with a minimum 3-year duration/ Master’s degree from any recognized board or Institution.

Compulsory subject: Aspiring candidates willing to pursuing a mandatory management degree with Business administration, engineering, commerce, social science, or arts with qualifying marks.

Allowed Percentage: should have qualified with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for reserved category) aggregate in any of the qualifying entrance examination.

Appearing: Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination will be considered as eligible to take up the examination.

Eligibility criteria for MCA Course:

Educational Qualification: Candidates must have a qualifying Bachelor’s degree in a relevant stream from any recognized university of the state to be eligible for the examination.

Applicable Percentage: one must score a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in all the subjects to qualify for the examination.

Compulsory inclusive subject: Applicants must have Mathematics as their compulsory subject to be qualified for the entrance test.

KMAT 2021 Syllabus & Exam Pattern

Before appearing for KMAT, 2021 entrance exam candidates must be aware of the Exam Pattern. This might help the candidates know about the details like the mode of examination, marking criteria, section if there is any negative marking, type of questions, the total number of questions and sections, duration of exam, etc. This will help the candidate to have better preparations for the exam.

KMAT 2021 is a 2-hour offline for UG course and online-based exam for Ph.D. courses where candidates will have to attend 120 questions carrying 100 marks. A new type of question pattern has been added in KMAT 2021, i.e., Multiple Select Question, MSQ. And there is no negative marking for this exam.

KMAT 2021 Syllabus

KMAT Karnataka 2021 contains multiple topics ranging from subjects like Mathematics, English, and Logical Reasoning. The section-wise syllabus for KMAT 2021will be as:

Section 1: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension

Some of the important topics in this section include Sentence completion, comprehension of passages, antonyms, synonyms, etc. Questions will be asked based on understanding the content, passages & choice of appropriate words. Here the English language fluency ability will be tested through grammar, vocabulary, and other similar language skills.

Section 2: Logical & Abstract Reasoning

Questions will be asked from logical reasoning, analogy, and so on.

Section 3: Quantitative Ability

The final section includes topics that evaluate the candidate’s speed & accuracy, such as checking numerical calculations, interest, time, percentage, speed, etc. Some of the topics might include arithmetic, ratio, and proportion. These questions will be selected from subjects like Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and other various mathematics sub-parts.

KMAT 2021 Admit Card

The KMAT 2021 Admit card/ hall ticket includes all exam-related details and candidate-specific details like –name of the student, exam date, exam timings, registration number of the student, exam center details, and all the important instructions about the entrance exam. While downloading the KMAT 2021 hall ticket, candidates must verify all the details printed on it.

KMAT 2021 Admit Card Instructions     

KMAT 2021 Admit Card will be released via online mode, which will happen on the second week of April 2021. Candidates will be able to download the hall ticket by entering their registration ID & date of Birth

Admit card is included with all the details like place of exam centers, date & time, address, exam calendar & some important exam instructions. It is also mandatory thing for all applied candidates to carry their admit card at the examination center; if not, the applicant will not be allowed to sit for the examination without the hall ticket & anyone's considerable ID proof.

KMAT 2021 Results & Score Card

KMAT Result will be made available via online mode and released in August 2021. The KPPGCA will prepare this scorecard or merit list based on marks scored by the entrance exam candidate.

To check the result, the applicant will have to use their user ID & password from the registration. The institutes will prepare their merit list for PG management courses. Applicants who are qualified for the examination will appear in the private University counseling rounds.

KMAT Karnataka 2021 answer kit will be revealed in the final week of July 2021 to cross-check their answers even before the release of results. With this, the candidate can make a fair estimation of their marks. The answer key will include answers to each question in the entrance test.

KMAT 2021 Counselling & Admission

The counseling process for KMAT 2021 is carried out once the results have been declared; the candidates shall apply for counseling, and for that, the candidates will have to pay a certain registration fee.

The authority will organize KMAT 2021 Counseling via online mode. All qualified candidates must be a part of the counseling process. Seat allotment for the candidates is done based on the committee's counseling process.

KMAT Application Form Fee Details:

  • KMAT Application Form could be either filled via online mode or offline mode. 
  • KMAT Application Form Fee costs Rs 1000, and the payment can be made via online mode, i.e., Credit card/Debit card/Net banking and other online payment. 
  • The payment of the KMAT Application form fee can also be made via offline mode, i.e., through DD.

Details on KMAT Exam pattern:

  • KMAT exam will be held in offline mode, i.e., Pen and Paper-based Test.  
  • KMAT exam will have 3 sections: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Quantitative Ability, and Logical Reasoning.
  • In the KMAT Exam pattern, The Total Number of questions is 120 (MCQs), consisting of 480 marks. Each section comprises 160 marks (40 Qs each section). 
  • The duration of the KMAT exam is 2 Hours.
  • For every right answer in the KMAT Exam pattern, 4 marks will be provided.
  • Negative marking is applicable as 1 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
