Established in 1995 by the Kerala Government, Sree Chitra Thirunal College of Engineering is shortly known as (SCTCE). It is affiliated with APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University and has AICTE approval to offer the degrees. One of the institute's main goals is to be recognized as a center of excellence. Over the years, it has accomplished prestigious accolades. The SCTCE is one of the Top 10 Colleges in Kerala, aided under World Bank-funded TEQIP. Due to its awards and rankings, this institute has been a primary choice for many students.

SCTCE offers undergraduate courses in BE/B Tech and postgraduate courses in ME/M Tech. Students seeking Sree Chitra Thirunal College of Engineering admission into a UG or PG course must complete the application form online through CEE, Kerala. The application fee for general candidates is INR 800, and for SC/ST candidates, INR 400. Applicants can pay their online application fees through Internet Banking/Debit or Credit Card and E-Challan. The total seats for BE/B Tech are 420 and for ME/M Tech is 54.

For admission to the B Tech in Sree Chitra Thirunal College, candidates must secure a minimum of 60% marks in PCM in the 10+2 Examination and are required to qualify for KEAM Entrance Exam conducted by the CEE, Kerala. Admissions will be provided under four categories Merit, Management, KSRTC/SCT Quota, and NRI Quota. 50% of seats are reserved under State Merit Quota. To be eligible for admission under this quota, applicants must satisfy the SCT College of Engineering Cut off requirements. Compiling students' KEAM Rank, cutoff scores, and CEE, Kerala, will prepare the merit list. The final seat allocation procedure will be carried through the counseling process.

35% of seats are allotted for the Sree Chitra Thirunal College of Engineering management quota. If students attempt the KEAM exam but are not got seat allotment due to low ranking, they can opt for management seats. Note that the admission process for Management seats will be conducted and administrated by CEE, Kerala, through centralized counseling. There is no need to apply directly for college. To be considered for seat allotments, the candidates must choose the option "MG" Management Category. In contrast, Management Quota's fee structure will vary compared to the merit quota.

5% of seats are allotted for the Sree Chitra Thirunal College of Engineering NRI Quota. Children/Ward/dependents of NRIs are eligible to apply for admission under this scheme. The students' Selection is based on their performance in the last qualifying exam. Interested applicants can apply online by filling out the application form through the college's main website. The application process for the admission under the NRI quota will begin immediately after the results of 10+2. There is a provision of 10% seats limited to the KSRTC/SCT Quota. Children of the KSRTC/SCT employees are eligible to get admission under this quota based on their performance in KEAM.

SCT College of Engineering fees for B Tech under merit quota is INR 49k to 65k per annum. KSRTC Quota/Management seat fees for B.Tech is around 84k to 98k per annum. The NRI quota fee will also be much higher than the general fee and management quota fees. The tuition fees for the NRI quota are approximately INR 2.6 Lakhs per year.

ME/M Tech candidates must have graduated with the required aggregate marks from BE/B Tech and secured a valid rank in GATE, which IIT conducts. Suppose students who have not attempted GATE can apply based on their UG Marks. However, priority will be given to GATE scholars whose names are enlisted on the merit list.

In addition to experienced senior faculty, the college has many young faculty members. Usually, the recruitment of new Assistant Professors is aided by a selection test conducted by a Kerala government agency. All staff and faculty belong to the SCT College of Engineering Staff Association (SCTCESA).

SCTCE, Thiruvananthapuram, has the best infrastructure and facilities, like a library with a huge collection of books and a computing center for developing practical knowledge among students. SCR College's Career Guidance and Placement Unit oversees the execution of all career services. As a result, they've been able to place graduates of SCTCE in most of the top companies operating in India. Top brands such as TCS, GM, Mahindra, Accenture, Musigma, and Infosys are among them. From the sixth semester onwards, students usually become eligible for campus placements.

In Placement campaigns, companies such as Infosys have made 322 offers, TCS -268 offers, Byjus-81 offers, Tata Elxsi -30 offers, Oracle -20 offers, and Accenture providing 18 offers. On average, SCT College placement packages ranged from 3 to 3.5 LPA. However, the Sree Chitra Thirunal College Of Engineering Highest Package was 12LPA.

The B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering at SCTCE had the highest percentage of placements at 100%, while B. Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering saw an increase of 29% from last year. In 2020, a total of 290 students got placed in companies such as TCS, Wipro, Byjus, TATA, IBS, Infosys, Oracle, UST Global, QBurst, and many more.
