IIT Palakkad - Ranking, Admissions 2026, Placements

IIT Palakkad is one of the five new IITs established under the scheme of the Indian Union Budget. Currently, the IIT PKD  has a strength of 978 students and 94 faculty members. In 2015, IIT Palakkad started functioning from Ahalia Integrated Campus at Kozhippara. Later in 2019, the academic activities commenced at Nila Campus at Kanjikode. Both of the IIT Palakkad's Campus are currently in use. candidates in their 1^st  & 2^nd  years are housed on the temporary Campus at Kozhippara. Third- and fourth-year students are housed on an IIT Palakkad permanent Campus at Kanjikode

The streams available are engineering, chemistry, physics, humanities, and social sciences. IIT Palakkad began offering BTech and MS degrees in 2015, followed by MTech, MSc, and Ph.D. programs in 2019. Similar to the other IITs, admission to the IIT Palakkad B Tech is based on JEE Advanced results followed by JOSAA Counselling. IIT Palakkad M Tech is available in six disciplines. Students who qualify in GATE can obtain admission seats through COAP Counselling. At the same time, admission to the MSc programs is based on IIT JAM Results. IIT Palakkad certificate course in applied data science has also been launched with Eruditus. The course costs INR 50 K to 1 Lac (excluding GST).

According to the 2025 final IIT Palakkad placement report, 155 students in all were placed. The IIT Palakkad's average salary package was INR 13.82 LPA. And IIT Palakkad's highest salary package was INR 52 LPA. Additionally, in the IIT Palakkad summer internship, 131 students bagged the offers. The highest monthly Stipend offered is INR 1 LPA.

National entrance exam scores determine Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad admission. BTech, MTech, MSc, MS Research, and Ph.D. are available at IIT Palakkad. Candidates who desire admission must appear for the entrance test and qualify for its IIT Palakkad Cut off.

IIT Palakkad BTech Admission

Initially, the IIT Palakkad B Tech degree was available in four branches. For the academic year 2025, IIT PKD commenced two new branches. They are engineering physics and, artificial intelligence & data science. With this innovation, the institute has increased its BTech program intake capacity to 499. Students in the BTech program at IIT Palakkad can switch branches in their 3^rd semester. IIT Palakkad B Tech fees are approximately INR 9 Lakhs in total. The fee structure is the same for the newly added IIT Palakkad Applied data science course.

IIT Palakkad MTech Admission

M Tech courses in IIT Palakkad are available in six disciplines. IIT Palakkad MTech fee charges INR 70080 in total. Both sponsorship and the GATE are options for admission to the program. Suppose students who graduated from any IITs with a CGPA of 8.00 will be excluded from GATE. For other applicants, a GATE score is mandatory. In addition, applicants must satisfy the IIT Palakkad Cutoff M Tech. Based on the GATE scores, cutoff scores will be determined.

IIT Palakkad Kerala offers MSc in three streams. They are mathematics, physics, and chemistry. IIT accepts IIT JAM Exam scores for offering admission to the MSc. Besides, students must qualify for the cutoff norms.

IIT Palakkad MS (Research) Admission

Admission is available for a two-year IIT Palakkad MS by Research program. The GATE score is used as the selection criteria for this program. Without a GATE score, IITs or other CFTI engineering graduates with a minimum CGPA of 8/10 (7.5/10 for OBC-NCL students and 7/10 for SC/ST/PwD candidates) are eligible to apply. Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineeri8ng, and Mechanical Engineering are the specializations available.

PG degree in a related field is required, as well as a strong academic record, for prospective candidates. During the 2021 IIT Palakkad Placement Drive, 155 offers were made. There was a rise in offers compared to the previous year. In total, 97 students got placed with the best pay packages in reputed firms. IIT Palakkad Average Package stood at INR 13.82 LPA. IIT Palakkad Placement Package Highest stood at INR 52 LPA. Recruiters from various industries, including analytics, information technology, and research and development, visited the Campus to conduct IIT Palakkad Recruitment Drive. The Top recruiters were Google, Arista Network, TCS Research, McKinsey, Honeywell, and Texas Instruments. Most placement offers came from the L&T group.

IIT Palakkad BTech Percentage is 89%. More than 120+ students got placed. Around 122  offers were made in addition to 6 pre-placement offers as well. IIT Palakkad CSE Average Package stood at INR 13.24 LPA. IIT Palakkad CSE Placement success rate was high compared to all the other branches.

IIT Palakkad Summer Internship Placements

Under IIT Palakkad summer internship 2021, 131 internship offers were made. Companies from various industries, including Core Engineering, Information Technology, and Research & Development, came to the Campus to recruit the participating students. The IT sector and Core Engineering Industries made the most internship offers. The Core Engineering sector accounted for 42% of the bids, and IT accounted for 30%. The Research sector provided 25% of the offers.
