Sardar Beant Singh State University (SBSSU), formerly known as Beant College of Engineering and Technology (BCET). Initially, it was established as an autonomous institution by Punjab Government. The inauguration of the college was done on February 28, 1994. The college started with limited seat availability & course structures in 1995. With time, the courses and the different streams have started to attract more & more students in different domains. The primary vision is to develop technical professionals who can contribute to the nation's development. There were certain clear focus objectives, like achieving academic autonomy and increasing employability in all sectors. In 2021, according to the government act, it was upgraded to University.

Sardar Beant Singh State University Rating is B accredited by NAAC. The institute has widely contributed significantly to developing the educational ecosystem in the state of Punjab. Courses include graduate courses like B.Tech, B.SC, and Polytechnic. The postgraduate courses include M.Tech and M.SC and research programs in different areas. In 1995, 3 graduate disciplines were started, then in 1996, one more discipline was added to the technology course. In 2003, the postgraduate courses were introduced in a phased manner after prior approval of AICTE.

SBSS University comprises four academic block hostels, sports facilities, computer labs, and a central workshop area. SBSS University, Gurdaspur B.Tech Admission

The institute offers four-year degree programs in seven disciplines. The total seat intake for all the programs is 480. The seat intake is as follows:

Sardar Beant Singh State University or Beant College  Gurdaspur admission to the B Tech is based on JEE Main Entrance Test. In addition, the individual needs to pass 10+2 from a recognized board. Furthermore, they shall have obtained a minimum of 55% aggregate marks.

The institute offers M Tech courses in 2 major disciplines. Admission to M Tech is based on valid GATE scores. The eligibility for both the streams is as follows:

• Mechanical Engineering: The candidates should pass Bachelor Of Technology in mechanical/ production/industrial/ automobile in any other field with 50% marks. For candidates in the reserved category, the aggregate of the marks is 45%.

• Computer Science Engineering: The candidates should pass Bachelor of Engineering in computer science engineering, information engineering or M.SC in information technology or MCA with 50% marks. The candidates belonging to reserved categories need to score 45% for admission to the course.

The University offers the MSC program in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Therefore, the candidates need to possess B.SC from a recognized university with Physics as one of the major subjects. The minimum mark required is 50% and 45% for SC/ST candidates.
