The Army Institute of Management Kolkata, formerly National Institute of Management (NIM) Calcutta. The college was established in 1997 by the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES). It was established to provide a state-of-the-art Management Program for the wards of Military troops (80%), with an option for general candidates (20%).

AIM Kolkata has been listed in the "A+++" Category MBA Colleges by Business India Survey. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has recognized the Institute, and AICTE has approved it. The college is administrated under the affiliation of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT).

AIM Kolkata MBA fees are INR 5 lakhs for two academic years. The results of the CAT exam determine admission for the MBA course. Besides, Scholarships and rewards are also available for students who excel in their studies. Students who wish to apply for the scholarships must meet the eligibility requirements.

Army Institute of Management Kolkata Course Admission

Students who wish to apply for AIMK MBA admission must meet the qualifying requirements. Students with a valid CAT/JEMAT score will be summoned for a Group Discussion followed by a Personal Interview. The final stage in the admission process will be document verification and fee payment.

Eligibility Criteria

Check below the AIM Kolkata eligibility criteria:

  • Students who have taken the CAT or JEMAT are eligible to apply for our MBA program. A UG in any discipline with a minimum of 50% of the marks, as recognized by the UGC/AIU, is the prerequisite for admission to the MBA program.
  • Students in the final year of their Bachelor's degrees are also eligible to apply.
  • If chosen, these applicants will be admitted on a provisional basis and must present documentation proving their eligibility by August. Those who don't meet the requirements above will be required to leave the course. Every academic class commences in September Month.
  • Group discussion and personal interviews would be scheduled for those participating in the CAT (GD & PI ).
  • Merit lists of the candidates for GD and PI will be created in two formats (one for Army and one for General). Sending the same to the Chairman for approval is required. Students on the merit list will be informed personally after approval.
  • Students with valid JEMAT Rank cards and MAKAUT Allotment cards will be admitted immediately to the Army Institute. They are not required to attend GD or PI.

Army Category Eligibility Criteria

  • Children of qualified serving Army personnel,  former Army personnel, and Army combat widows can apply to the AWES Professional Colleges.
  • The offspring of the following categories of Army troops are eligible. They must provide the appropriate certificate and the Application Form as proof of their eligibility for admission.

One of the following categories must be followed by the applicants:-

(i) Children of Serving Army Personnel or Retired Personnel

  • Children of serving Army personnel who have at least 10 years of continuous service
  • Children of former Army Officials who received regular pensions, liberalized family pensions, or disability pensions at the time of their superannuation, deaths, discharges, or release medical boards/invalided medical boards.
  • Children of former Army servicemen who have accepted a discharge or have been freed after ten years of service.

(iii) Children of Ex-Army Medical Corps Officers

  • Only those children who have served with the Army for at least 10 years and are now serving with the Indian Navy or Indian Air Force are eligible.

(iv) Children of APS/MNS/TA Personnel

  • According to the Ministry of Defence letter, No. 9 (52)/88/D(Res) dated 19 July 1989, children of APS employees are categorized as ex-servicemen.
  • Children of APS employees who have served in the Army for ten years and are currently on deputation.
  • Children of APS employees hired directly into the organization and have served for 10 years.
  • Those who are retired from the APS without reverting to the P&T Department after accumulating the required minimum pensionable service, of which 10 years were spent in the Army.
  • Only those MNS members' kids who have ten years of regular MNS service or receive an Army pension.
  • Only those TA employees who have completed 10 years of embodied service may have children.

Selection Process

GD-PI

  • Students who pass the CAT, based on merit, will be contacted in Kolkata for a group discussion and an individual interview. Students are responsible for covering their hotel, food, and travel costs.
  • Email notifications will be sent to the shortlisted students. Every year, the GD-PI is typically held in March in Kolkata.
  • Before the GD-PI on the same day, students must present all original documents (uploaded in the admission form). Following verification, the students must deliver photocopies of the documents to the admissions office.

Final Selection

  • Emails and phone calls will be used to notify the selected students. They will be required to pay Rs. 60,000 using NEFT as the seat reservation fee.
  • Once the student is admitted, the sum will be deducted from the tuition fees.

Online: Visit AIM Kolkata's official website, Fill out all the pertinent details in the application, and pay the application fee. Army wards must pay Rs. 500 as application fees, while the general category must pay Rs. 600. AIM Kolkata application fees should be payable to 'Director AIM' in Kolkata.

Offline: Download the Army Institute of Management Kolkata application form from the Institute's official website or pick up a printed copy from the Admissions office. Pay the application fee in cash if you pick up your application from the admissions office. If the downloaded application form is filled out and submitted to the admissions office, make a demand draft in the name of 'Director AIM' payable in Kolkata, and include it with the application form and supporting papers. Completed applications should be sent to the admissions office of Kolkata's Army Institute of Management. Students can also fill out the application form in person by visiting the school, and application fees must be paid in cash.

Army Institute of Management Kolkata Scholarships

AIM Kolkata scholarships to students to make study more affordable. The following are the basic AIMK scholarship programs:

  • Army Commander's Scholarships: Each year, HQ Eastern Command awards Rs. 25000 to two students from the army category from each class.
  • Chairman's Scholarships: Each worth Rs. 25000, awarded by HQ Bengal Area to two students (one girl and one boy) from the Army category (NCO/OR) of each batch each year.
  • TATA Merit Scholarships: TATA Defence Welfare Corpus awards these to students in the defense category who place first and second in the first-year examination. The pupils will receive Rs. 20000 and Rs. 15000, respectively.
