Admission to R.V. College of Engineering (RVCE) is highly sought after due to the institute’s strong academic reputation, autonomous status, and consistent placement performance. Located in Bengaluru, RVCE offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes in engineering and computer applications. The admission process is structured, transparent, and governed by merit-based entrance examinations along with limited institutional quotas. Understanding the different admission routes helps students plan effectively and improve their chances of securing a seat.

Overview of the Admission Process at RVCE

RVCE follows a multi-channel admission system, ensuring fairness while accommodating students from different academic backgrounds and regions. Admissions are mainly conducted through recognized entrance exams such as KCET and COMEDK, along with a management quota for a limited number of seats. For postgraduate programmes like MCA, admissions are conducted through approved state-level or national-level entrance tests.

Candidates must meet the minimum academic eligibility criteria, appear for the required entrance examinations, and participate in counselling or selection procedures as notified by the respective authorities.

Engineering Admission at RV College of Engineering

Engineering programmes at RVCE are offered at the Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) level across popular branches such as Computer Science, AI & Machine Learning, Computer Science (Data Science/Cyber Security), Information Science, Electronics and Communication, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics, Civil Engineering, Biotechnology and emerging specializations.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for engineering admission, candidates must have:

  • Passed 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board
  • Studied Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects
  • Studied Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, or Computer Science as an additional subject
  • Secured the minimum aggregate percentage as prescribed by the admission authority

Meeting eligibility criteria alone does not guarantee admission, as seat allotment is based on entrance exam rank and availability.

Admission through COMEDK

COMEDK UGET is one of the most popular admission routes for RVCE, especially for students from outside Karnataka. COMEDK conducts a centralized entrance test followed by online counselling for private engineering colleges in the state.

Key Highlights of COMEDK Admission

  • Open to students from all over India
  • Rank-based seat allotment through centralized counselling
  • Candidates can choose branches and colleges based on preference and rank

RV College of Engineering B-Tech admissions are based on academic merit in 10+2 board exams in the science stream with min of 75% marks as aggregate, followed with JEE Main or KCET scores. If you are a non-domicile applicant, then appear for COMED-K to seek admission in private engineering colleges of Karnataka. For state quota admissions, valid scores in KCET or JEE Main exams is mandatory. If you have low scores, then you can apply for management quota seats directly by applying online by visiting the official website of the college. The fees for management quota seats will be higher than the general fees.

RVCE offers a popular 4-year BE course with 12 specializations. If you're from Karnataka, you can get in based on your KCET score. But if you're from another state, your COMEDK score matters for admission. R V College of Engineering COMEDK Cutoff varies between 232 to 18028. In contrast, CET cut off 119 to 43629. Applicants with a valid rank from KCET or COMEDK exams must attend Counselling. KCET qualifiers go to KEA's KCET Counselling, while COMEDK qualifiers attend COMEDK Counselling. During counseling, applicants pick their preferred college and course. Seats are then allotted based on these choices and exam scores. KCET fills about 45% of seats, COMEDK fills 30%, and the rest, 25%, are through R V College of Engineering Management Quota.

I could get a seat in this college by securing a valid score in KCET, so my rank was 220, and I could get B. Tech in information science & engineering. So, 45% of seats are filled through KCET, and 25% of seats are reserved for the management quota, and the remaining 30% seats are for COMEDK. Firstly candidates need to appear for the entrance exam so that the KCET application form will be released in Feb, and the exam will be held in April. KCET exam fee is INR 650 for general category students. Once the results are declared, we will go through counseling process through which college will be allotted further my R.V. College of Engineering B.Tech admissions to place

I would suggest taking admission for B.tech in this college through the entrance exams like KCET or COMEDK. I took RV College of Engineering admissions by the KCET score keeping, which we will have to appear for the counseling to get access to the B.tech. I was studying B.Tech in telecommunication engineering.

Asked Question

Can I get Direct Admission in R.V. College of Engineering 2026
Asked by Guest

replied on 25-Jan-2026 13:18:16

Yes, direct admission in R.V. College of Engineering (RVCE) for the 2026 academic year is possible, but only through authorized channels such as management quota or NRI/supernumerary seats. RVCE is one of India’s most reputed engineering institutions, so purely merit-based seats are highly competitive and filled through entrance exams like KCET, COMEDK UGET, or JEE Main.

When people refer to “direct admission,” they usually mean admission under the management quota, where a limited percentage of seats are reserved by the institution. To be eligible, candidates must have completed 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with Chemistry or a related subject, from a recognized board. Most cases still require the student to have appeared in at least one entrance exam, even if the score is not used for rank-based allotment.

Management quota admissions involve higher fees compared to regular counselling seats, and the cost varies depending on the engineering branch and demand. Admissions typically begin after board exam results and continue alongside counselling rounds.

Students eligible under the NRI quota have a separate route with different documentation and fee structures. For 2026, it is strongly advised to rely only on official college communication and avoid unauthorized agents. Early planning improves your chances of securing a seat.

What are the entrance exams required for R V College of Engineering
Asked by guest

replied on 25-Jan-2026 13:23:40

For admission to R.V. College of Engineering (RVCE), candidates must qualify through recognized national or state-level entrance examinations, as the institute does not conduct its own entrance test. The required exam depends on the programme and the category of admission.

For undergraduate engineering (B.E.) programmes, the primary entrance exams are KCET, COMEDK UGET, and JEE Main. KCET is mainly for Karnataka domicile students seeking government quota seats, while COMEDK UGET is open to students from across India for private college seats. JEE Main scores are also considered in certain admission categories and are often required as a qualifying credential, even for management quota admissions.

For postgraduate engineering (M.Tech) courses, RVCE accepts scores from GATE and Karnataka PGCET. These exams evaluate a candidate’s technical knowledge and are used for merit-based seat allotment during counselling.

For the MCA programme, candidates are required to qualify exams such as Karnataka PGCET or KMAT, depending on the admission route.

Overall, appearing for at least one relevant entrance exam is essential for RVCE admission, as valid scorecards are typically required during counselling and verification. Proper exam planning significantly improves admission opportunities.
