The DSM, which arose from the Charitable Trust (Devender Singh Educational Trust), is a self-supporting, autonomous institution that began operations in 2008-09 with technical and administrative approval from the AICTE in New Delhi and the Uttar Pradesh Technical University in Lucknow. The institute is taking a step forward in serving society by developing professional people who are prepared to meet the challenges of today's world while still being responsible. The college was established with the primary goal of teaching all students management skills and enhancing their technical abilities, both of which are critical for success. The college is a perfect mix of faculty, management, and excellent services, making it an ideal atmosphere for student training. One of DSITM's main objectives is to provide a comprehensive and interdisciplinary professional education of the highest academic caliber. This is accomplished through an integrated curriculum that includes a wide range of technical classes, interdisciplinary technical research projects, daily interactions with business, and entrepreneurship and personality growth training. The Institute's mission is to train and educate outstanding undergraduate students who will become leaders in the technology industry and profession. They tend to provide superior facilities and faculty with cutting-edge technology and their societal, technological, manufacturing, and financial applications. Working closely with business leaders through their Corporate Schools and assisting them in completing required training programs in the manufacturing and economic sectors. The DSM is situated on a 10-acre campus.

The program has committed itself to provide each individual with a favorable atmosphere in which to achieve his or her career goals, with a strong focus on personality growth and academically inclined opportunities for obtaining quality education in all spheres of Engineering. Hands-on learning accounts for more than 60% of the course. Theoretical and empirical approaches account for 40% of the course. Teachers use transparencies, video films, slides, and models to help students understand complex engineering processes and theories.

• B.Tech four years degree, MBA 2 years PG course, and Polytechnic, a three-year diploma program are offered by DSITM under a variety of disciplines. The intake for all the course and specializations are 60 seats except for B.Tech in computer science engineering which is 120 seat intake.
• The U.P. Technical University, Lucknow, conducts a State Entrance Test for admission to B. Tech. Candidates that have completed intermediate with physics and mathematics as compulsory subjects and either computer science, chemistry, biology, or biotechnology as optional subjects according to U.P.T.U. Guidelines. Based on the score gained in the entrance test B. Tech admission to Devender Singh Institute of Technology & Management will be offered.
• In any Bachelor's degree from a recognized institution, the candidate must have received a minimum aggregate of 60% (50 percent for PWD/SC/ST) such candidates are eligible for MBA. Based on national/state level entrance exam score, candidates who obtained MBA admissions to Devender Singh Institute of Technology & Management will be granted. The MBA program at the institute is dedicated to providing students with opportunities to develop and apply skills globally.
• For diploma courses, a high school diploma with science and mathematics (10+) is required.
• Students are admitted to diploma programs through a joint admission test conducted at the state level. Every year in December/January, admission forms to Diploma in Devender Singh Institute of Technology & Management are available at all recognized polytechnics in Uttar Pradesh.
