The university was started in 1983 as Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology as an autonomous Institute in New Delhi. NSIT was the only institute under the University of Delhi. The institute received its University status in 2018 and changed its name to Netaji Subhas University of Technology. The application form for NSUT can be filled out and submitted online by paying INR of 1000/- and INR 500/- for the reserved and women category. The fee has to be paid through State Bank Collect. For B-Tech admissions, the institute will consider JEE Main entrance exam scores. Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology's cut-off for the ECE stream is 21049.
