Earlier in 1994, with the industrialist Dr Karsanbhai K Patel's vision, the Nirma Group of Industries laid the foundation of Nirma Education and Research Foundation, also known as NERF. Later in 1995, the Nirma Institute of Technology was established by the NERF. And in 1996 Nirma Institute of Management was established. These institutions were affiliated with the renowned state university, Gujarat University. Then in 2003, the state government of Gujarat approved the proposal by the NERF to establish the Nirma University. After that, University was established under the act passed by the Gujarat State Legislative Assembly and the University Grant Commission (UGC) under section 2 (f) act of the UFC act.

Nirma University Recognitions & Accreditations

Nirma University has been approved by the UGC, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) New Delhi, Ministry of Education, Government of India. The institution has also got its approval from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) in New Delhi. The University has been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). In addition, NAAC Accredits Nirma University with an "A" Grade.
