GATE is a national-level examination mainly for engineering aspirants, and this year, the exam is officially organized by IIT Bombay. The exam has been concluded in Feb itself, and now the answer key for the same is available on the authentic page of GATE 2021. GATE exam is considered for those looking for M-Tech admissions in any of the participating colleges that accept GATE scores at the time of admissions. The exam is over, and the answer key is released for the students to check their answers and get an idea of their performance. This answer key may or may not be very accurate but will give an over-all idea for evaluating their marks. The official answer key will only be available on GATE 2021 website at aapsgate.iitb.ac.in. The candidates who have written for M-Tech admissions can easily access the website and check for the answers.  

How to access the GATE 2021 answer key

Step 1: Visit the main website of the GATE examination 

Step 2: The answer key icon will be displayed on the screen, and they can click on it

Step 3: The complete answer key will appear on the screen in the PDF format, and below, there will be an icon for download, and candidates can click on it for further reference GATE 

Step 4: The file gets downloaded in the pdf format itself, and they can save it in the desired folder on their phone, PC, or any other device.  

How can candidates check n evaluate their GATE 2021 score using the answer key?

The candidates have to check the correct answers, and that will be equal to the total marks secured for the correct answers given by subtracting all the marks for wrong answers (negative marking). The questions in the GATE 2021 are objective type, i.e., Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) have negative marking, and for numerical answer type questions will have no negative marking so that candidates can know how to evaluate their approximate marks in GATE 2021.

The marking guide of GATE 2021 MCQ for MCQ is as follows where the MCQ-type questions are asked for both 1 mark and 2 marks. If the given answer is wrong for a 1 mark question, then 1/3 of the marks will be deducted. If the answer is wrong for 2 mark questions, 2/3 of the marks will be deducted. Talk about the NAT questions comprises both one & two mark questions and no deduction for wrong or any incorrect answer. 

How can candidates challenge the GATE 2021 Answer Key; check the process 

As the answer key is now live, candidates who want to challenge it can apply because IIT Bombay has opened its correction window. Any of the M-Tech aspirants who have taken up the GATE 2021 and waiting for the results can check their approximate scores with the answer key's help. Still, if they are willing to raise objections, candidates apply for re-valuation, and the authorities will do it based on the raided objections. Each objection raised by the candidate will cost INR 500, and once that is cross-checked, the changed final answer key will be released on March 18, 2021.

If the raised objection is correct, the authorities will fully refund the amount taken after giving out the final publication of the answer key. The conducting body mentioned that only the question number and answer need to be mentioned by the candidate while raising the object and the complete response sheet in the portal of GOPAS.

Below are the stated steps to challenge the 2021 GATE answer key

Step 1: The candidates will have to open the website of GOAPS

Step 2: Look for the 'Contest Answer Key' tab and click on it.

Step 3: Before mentioning the changes, they will have to do the payment transaction of INR 500 (per objection) via online mode.

Step 4: Once the money transaction is successful, the candidate will have to mention the question number and answer that they are willing to object on 

Step 5: There will be a justification column in which the candidates will have to write the reasons for their objection within a maximum of 500 characters

Step 6: Lastly, candidates will also have to upload any supporting documents (if any) that will benefit their objection (in prescribed format), and that will be taken into consideration by the authorities. 

Other than the answer key, the final result and the rank list of GATE 2021 will be available on the website by 22 March 2021. Post the evaluation of the results, and candidates can start blocking their interest in college for M-Tech in the list of participating colleges, which will be considered while conducting the counseling process of GATE 2021.
