North Bengal University (NBU) is a public university in Darjeeling, West Bengal, India. The University was established in 1962 to provide higher education to the people of the North Bengal region. It has a sprawling campus spread over 330 acres & is located at the foothills of the Himalayas, providing a serene and peaceful environment for learning. Over 65 North Bengal University-affiliated colleges are spread over four districts of Alipurduar, Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, and one sub-division, Islampur. The University is a member of the AIU and is recognized by the UGC.

North Bengal University Course Admission

NBU has more than 33 departments that offer a variety of courses at UG, PG, and Doctoral levels. All the courses have different eligibility criteria. In addition, NBU offers admissions based on the merit of the qualifying exam and entrance exams for certain courses.

• The candidates willing to apply for the UG Courses must have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 45%-50% aggregate marks from the recognized board.
• Selection to the UG Courses (BA, BSC, BBA, B.LiSc, B Com) is based on 10+2 merit followed by North Bengal University Counselling.
• A simple graduation degree is required to apply for the B.Ed in North Bengal University. The candidates are selected based on the merit of the qualifying examination,
• The candidates must secure a minimum of 60% marks in B. A Hons. / B.Sc. Hons. / B.Com. Hons / BCA / BIT / BIS or BSS degree with Mathematics as one of the main subjects at 10+2 or graduate level to apply for the MCA. The selection will be based on the performance of the candidates in the North Bengal University Entrance Exam, followed by a personal interview session
• For admission into the MBA course, the candidates must secure a valid score in the CMAT/ MAT/ CAT/ ATMA/ JMET/ XAT/ WBJEMAT/ NBU-MAT exams.

NBU has a central Training & Placement (T&P) Cell. The cell continuously coordinates with various famous and renowned industries and organizations for the placement of the students. The cell also conducts internships for the students to make them job-ready.

Library: The University Library is the only library in the North Bengal region that has a collection of 2,25,208 textbooks, 8,550 reference books, 37,145 bound journals, 1423 theses, etc. The University is an institutional member of IASLIC, ILA, BLA, and American Library (Partial). ) BCL and DELNET.

Labs: There are various labs at the institute, like  Chemistry Lab, Computer Lab, Physics Lab, Biotechnology Lab, Bioinformatics Lab and Microbiology Lab

The other facilities include a Cafeteria, Hospital / Medical Facilities, an Auditorium, a Convenience Store, a Post Office Guest House, and a Museum.
