The National Institute of Engineering

Established in 1946, the National Institute of Engineering Mysore (NIE) is on the list of Karnataka's oldest Institutions. Later, the Institute received its affiliation from the University of Mysore in 1950. From modest beginnings to becoming the second engineering college in Karnataka, NIE Mysore got its AICTE approval in 1986. Since 1998, NIE has been affiliated with VTU. NAAC accredited the institution with a B++ grade. Besides, UGC granted Autonomous status to the Institute in 2007. The Institute aims at imparting technical education not only through a theoretical foundation but also with practical training. Henceforth, It is reflected in NIE Mysore courses that are NBA and NAAC accredited.

NIE has various courses in UG, PG, and Doctoral streams. NIE Mysore Engineering courses BE/B Tech is available in CSE, Civil, ECE, EEE, ISE, Industrial & Production, Mechanical, and Civil. NIE Mysore Part-Time course is available under BE in Civil Engineering. The college upholds its goal of transforming education by providing a BE degree in Civil to working students. The NIE Mysore evening class is primarily for working-class diploma holders. NIE offers admission to the M Tech and MCA at the PG level. The Research program supplements Ph.D. and M.Sc. degrees.

National Institute of Engineering Courses contributes knowledge through innovative state-of-the-art research in engineering as every department QIP Research Centres are VTU and AICTE recognized. Completing all three phases of TEQIP, the NIE Mysore is among the only 14 colleges in Karnataka recognized by MHRD.

National Institute of Engineering admission takes place through various Common Entrance tests. The NIE Mysore admission for BE is via KCET, COMEDK, and Management seats. The student seat intake matrix for BE is 70% KCET Quota, 15% COMEDK, and the remaining 15% are allotted to NIE Mysore Management Quota. Students require to follow the instructions of the KCET and COMEDK examination board for the selection process. NIE Mysore CET code for aided is E022  and E056 for unaided. To be eligible for admission through govt quota, candidates must score according to the NIE Mysore Cut off criterion.

Admissions to MCA and M.Tech in NIE Mysore are made through PGCET. 90% of seats are allotted for the candidates who have qualified with a valid rank in PGCET. In contrast, 10% of seats are reserved for NIE Mysore Direct Admission. Students applying for admission under the management quota can directly fill out the NIE Mysore application form, which is available online on their website. Alternatively, they can collect the NIE admission form from the college admission cell. Aside from the management quota, limited seats are applicable for the sports quota. Candidates who represent State/National level sports can apply. The selection of students for sports quota is solely the Management's decision.

NIE Mysore campus area is 25 and has hostel blocks on the premises. The dormitories are separate for boys and girls, with a capacity of 800 students. The facility comes with laundry services, an entertainment room, a medical facility, ATM, convenience stores, and a food mess. NIE Mysore hostel fee ranges from INR 85,000 - 1.1 Lakh.
