Lady Irwin College

Lady Irwin College is an institute of Delhi University that was established in 1932. The college is approved by UGC and has been ranked grade "A" by NAAC. Located in New Delhi, LIC offers various undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD courses in home science and food technology. Till 1950, The college was run under the guidance of the All India Women's Education Fund Association and later got its affiliation with Delhi University and later the Lady Irwin College Society was established in 1969.

LIC was established with the vision of empowering women by providing them with quality education and an environment for their personal and professional growth. To this date, the institute manages in providing the same. LIC believes in building a strong foundation by teaching them all the aspects of education, giving them ethics and values so that students become successful individuals in every aspect of their life.

1. LIC offers six courses under various streams. The courses are B.Sc., B.Sc.(H), B.Ed., PG Diploma, M.Sc., and PhD.
2. The admission at Lady Irwin College is either merit-based or entrance exam-based. Candidates looking for PG admission at LIC must appear for the DUET Entrance Test conducted by Delhi University.
3. LIC has a highly qualified and fully dedicated faculty team of 75 members. Fifty-two among them are PhD holders.
4. The faculty staff are well-trained and dedicated to providing the candidates' world-class education and preparing them for the future working industry.
5. LIC offers an online mode of application for admission in undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD courses. Candidates must visit their official website to register themselves.

LIC offers a widespread infrastructure, and the college campus has been classified and protected as a heritage site. Students are provided with various facilities like well-equipped computer labs, spacious classrooms, canteen, horticulture project, medical helpdesk and many more. LIC also offers a hostel facility to accommodate the students coming from outside the city and state.

Lady Irwin College gives hostel facilities to the students. The rooms are well-maintained and designed to provide comfort to the student. There are two different hostel buildings, one is for undergraduate students, and another is for postgraduates and PhD students. The hostel provides accommodation for a total of 200 students.

Placements in Lady Irwin College

LIC has a dedicated placement cell that connects the various recruiters with the students. The placement cell, via its various lectures, guest lecture, seminars, and various other modes, trains the candidates for the interview, group discussion, and aptitude test. They enhance the technical skills and communication skills of the students so that they can perform well in interviews. The aspirants get various opportunities in corporate and school teaching jobs. The food technology department offers 100% placement.

• Sushma Sharma Award has been offered to the student securing the highest score in M.Sc. Food and Nutrition.
