BITS MCA 2018 is commonly known as the Birla Institute of Technology Masters of Computer Application conducted by the Birla Institute of Technology to provide admission in the post graduate programme of MCA at its various campuses. This is considered to be a National level entrance test.

This is a three year full time MCA programme with 6 semesters offered by the Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra and to its extended campuses at Allahabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lalpur(Ranchi) and Noida. It is an online based entrance examination. This is a very renowned entrance examination which is given by a huge number of students every year. BITS Mesra is NAAC accredited and is considered to be one of the reputed institute in all over India.

BITS MCA Eligibility criteria

The below mentioned are the few eligibility criteria to appear for the BITS MCA 2018 examination. The candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria before proceeding for the registration, as the examination authority has set some priority for the candidates to appear for the entrance test.

  • The candidate should have passed class 10th and 12th with a minimum of 60% in aggregate applicable for general category.
  • For the reserved category (SC/ST/PH) candidates the marks should be 55% in aggregate in class 10th and 12th.
  • The candidate should have mathematics or computer science any one subject in class 12th.
  • The candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree from any recognized university under UGC under MHRD, Govt. of India.
  • The candidate must have a graduation degree of BCA or B.Sc in computer Science/ Information technology or B.sc/ B.A. in Mathematics or Statics.
  • For the Bachelor’s degree the candidate should have 60% in aggregate (general category) and for reserved category the candidate should have 55% in aggregate.
  • The applicants appearing for the final year examination are also eligible to appear for the entrance test.

BITS MCA Application Form & fees

BITS MCA 2018 Application form will be available online on the official website on (https://www.bitmesra.ac.in). The registration will start from the month of February 2018 (tentative). The applicants should do the application form fill up online and submit the same.

The following are the few details the candidate should follow while doing the application form fill up.

  • The candidates need to visit the official website link mentioned above.
  • Apply online and create username and password as per the instruction.
  • Followed by the candidates should fill and submit the application form online.
  • The application form fee payment can be made through state bank collect, Net Banking or by Debit/Credit card of any nationalized bank in favor of ‘Birla Institute of Technology’ in between a time slot allotted for the payment.
  • The candidates need to take a print out of the application form and send the same in an A4 size envelope by speed post or by courier. On the top of the envelope the candidate must write Application for MCA 2017.

BITS MCA Syllabus & Exam Pattern

  • BITS MCA 2018 entrance exam will be conducted online. The question paper will consist of total 120 questions and the duration of time will be for 20 hours.
  • The questions will be objective type MCQ pattern in which the candidates need to choose one correct option among the choices.
  • The candidates will get 4 marks each for every correct answer and for every wrong answer 1 mark will be deducted. For unattempted questions no marks will be allotted.
  • The question paper will consist of total 4 sections that include Mathematics, Analytical ability & logical Reasoning, Computer Awareness and English.

Syllabus:-

Section A: Mathematics (60 questions – objective type)

Algebra: Fundamental operations in Algebra, expansion, factorization, quadratic equations, indices, logarithms, arithmetic, geometric and harmonic progressions, binomial theorem, permutations and combinations, surds
Set Theory: Sets and subsets, operations on sets, sequences, properties of integers, relations and functions
Matrix Algebra: Elementary transformations, inverse of a matrix, rank, solution of simultaneous linear equations, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, quadratic forms
Co-ordinate Geometry: Rectangular Cartesian co-ordinates, equations of aline, mid-point, intersections etc., equations of a circle, distance formulae, pair of straight lines, parabola, ellipse and hyperbola, simple geometric transformations such as translation, rotation, scaling.
Calculus: Limit of functions, continuous functions, differentiation of function(s), tangents and normals, simple examples of maxima and minima, integration of function by parts, by substitution and by partial fraction, definite integral application to volumes and surfaces of frustums of a sphere, cone, cylinder, Taylor Series.
Differential Equations: Differential equations of first order and their solutions, linear differential equations with constant coefficients, homogenous linear differential equations.
Vectors: Position vector, addition and subtraction of vectors, scalar and vector products and their applications to simple geometrical problems and mechanics.
Trigonometry: Simple identities, trigonometric equations, properties of triangles, solution of triangles, height and distance, inverse function
Probability and Statistics: Basic concepts of probability theory, averages, dep endent and independent events, frequency distributions, and measures of dispersions, skewness and kurtosis, random variable and distribution functions, mathematical expectations, binomial, Poisson, normal distributions, curve fitting, and principle of least squares, correlation and regression
Linear Programming: Formulation of simple linear programming problems, basic concepts of graphical and simplex methods, revised simplex method, transportation and assignment problems, duality and integer programming.

Section B: Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning : (20 questions – objective type)

Questions in this section will test logical reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and visio-spatial reasoning

Section C: Computer Awareness: (20 questions – objective type)

Computer Basics: Organization of a computer, Central Processing Unit (CPU), Structure of instructions in CPU, input / output devices, computer memory, memory organization, back-up devices
Data Representation: Representation of characters, integers, and fractions, binary and hexadecimal representations, Binary Arithmetic: Addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, 1’s and 2’s complement arithmetic, floating point representation of numbers, normalized floating point representation, Boolean algebra, truth tables, Venn diagrams
Computer Architecture: Block structure of computers, communication between processor and I / O devices, interrupts
Computer Language: Assembly language and high-level language, Multi programming and time-sharing operating systems, Computer Programming in C.

Operating Systems: Evolution of operating systems, types of operating systems, functions of an operating system, modern operating systems.

Section D: English: (20 questions – objective type)

• Use of articles and prepositions (fill in the blanks or correct use)

• Sentence sequence (jumbled sentences)
• Completion of a sentence (with choices)
• Choice of appropriate word to fill in the blanks (with options)
• Abridging sentences / paragraphs.

BITS MCA Admit Card

Admit card of BITS MCA 2018 will be sent via email or by post to all the candidates who have successfully completed the registration of the application form within a time period before the start of the examination.
The admit card will also be available on the official website of the BITS MCA 2017 on the following link www.bitmesra.ac.in. The admit card can be downloaded from the website of the institute in the month of May 2017(tentative).
The candidates should carry the admit card in the examination hall. The admit will contain all the necessary information’s like the venue of the exam, exam time slot, roll no and many other important details.

BITS MCA Results & Score Card

BIT MCA 2018 result will be declared online on the official website. The candidates need to login to their account and check the score obtained by them in the entrance test. The result will be announced in the month of June, 2017(tentative). The shortlisted listed candidates will be called for the counseling.

BITS MCA Counselling & Admission

The selection of BITS MCA 2018 will be done on the basis on the basis of the entrance test marks obtained by the applicants
in BITS MCA .The Shortlisted candidates will be called for the admission procedure.

The notification of the counseling will be announced on the official website. The counseling will start after the declaration of the result in the last week of June 2018 (tentative). No other notification or intimation will be send to the candidates individually.
