Zakir Husain Delhi College

Zakir Husain College was established in 1824 in New Delhi and is known as one of the oldest colleges in Delhi, which is affiliated with DU.  This College is a public-aided institute, and they have been accredited as “A” grade by NAAC. ZHC offers their academic courses in three different streams as in Arts, Science and Commerce fields. These programs are offered at both UG and PG levels with varying departments for these programs.
As an educational institute, they provide infrastructural facilities like Library, Faculty, Sports, spacious classrooms, Computer labs, Laboratory, Wi-Fi Campus and security etc. Zakir Husain College library has one of the finest oldest libraries in the Delhi University system that came into existence way back in 1824 with the establishment of the College. It is fully conditioned with A/C with a total of around 1.1 L document collections.
The library has two reading halls with a seating capacity of about 100 students each. They are a well-equipped computer lab having 78 systems connected to DU through WAN. Library also houses a Book Bank with a vast collection of around 12 K books. Apart from academic programs, they also encourage their students to participate in extra-curricular activities to bring up overall development. There is no hostel facility in this College as it is the only seen drawback of this College.

• ZHC trains their students with well-experienced candidates with more than 25+ faculty members with professors and 15+ assistant professors. 
• They impart the syllabus teaching with proper training and guidance to improve their skills and personality development.     
• To teach the cultural values among the students, they have formed Arts & Culture Society, Bioscope Film Society, Photography Society and many more. 
• Other than infrastructural facilities, ZHC provides placement opportunities for its students. Some of the fortune companies participate in this placement drive to offer job opportunities to deserving candidates.
• To encourage the students to be attentive and increase their attendance percentage of lectures and tutorials, they give an extra credit of 5% for those who have 85% of regularity in each paper. 
• ZHC also offers various scholarship provisions for eligible candidates who can claim them accordingly.  
• In the admission process to get into ZHC, the applicants must apply online mode by visiting the college portal. 
• Only the eligible candidates based on the cut-off criteria are given admissions to this College. The reserved candidates can get direct entries after meeting the cut-off scores from the list. 
• As this is a public institute, they provide admissions strictly based on merit scores. There are no management quota seats available in this College.
• ZHC also provides placement cell and career counselling help for its students to brief them about different career options available in their respective fields. 
• They also conduct a few recruitment drives where many familiar or well-known companies participate.

Zakir Husain College provides Career Counselling Cell and Placement Cell to train the final year candidates to face the interview rounds in real. They will help them to clear the aptitude rounds, GD and PI rounds with confidence and intelligence. The counselling cell will help the candidates to do the SWOT/SWIC analysis of themselves and get better clarity in what they want to pursue. This training cell will help the students to improve their aptitude, Technical skills and guidance to make them profession ready to face the industry world. The Average salary package is INR 4LPA, and the highest package is for INR 9LPA. ZHC has collaborations with Internshala to offer good opportunities to its students in some top companies like Disney, Kotak, Oyo, Amazon, Uber, Sony, Tech Mahindra, Philips and Zomato etc.

Scholarship facility in Zakir Husain College-Memorial Scholarships

• Mirza Mahmood Beg: This is given for UG students who have scored the highest percentage in their final year. They will be rewarded with an amount of INR 1400 every year. 
• Sri Narain Nigam: This scholarship is reserved for three categories of physically challenged students. The scholarship amount is INR 700 for Humanities and Social Sciences with Psychology and Commerce stream but does not include (Hons.) BA in Maths and Science stream is INR 1100.
• Kumar Shubham: This includes four types of aids, for (Hons.) BA Psychology student INR 700, for Humanities & Social Sciences apart from psychology and (Hons.) BA Mathematics student it is INR 350, for Science students including BA / (Hons.) B.Sc. courses in Mathematics and INR 350 for a Commerce Student it is INR 350.
• Gopa Dey: It is for those with the (Hons.) BA in Bengali to the 2nd and 3rd-year students who secured the top three positions in the first year, and the amount awarded is INR 1500, INR 1000 and INR 500 to eligible students.
